Fabric Travel Journal

Hi everyone! I am back with a step by step tutorial of Eileen Hull’s Journal Diecut! Generally I get caught up in the process and forget to do photos along the way as I create. 😐 

The fun part of this journal is there is no sewing whatsoever. 😀 First I started by cutting four pieces of fabric (two for the cover and two for the inside cover) and two pieces of fusible webbing  all pieces slightly larger that the journal diecut.

I placed the piece of fabric on top of the fusible webbing and the other fabric on the bottom and ironed firmly on both sides and let cool. The fusible webbing has directions on how to use it when you get it cut. 

I had to take care as to how I ran the fabric through the diecut machine since I didn’t want the map on the cover to be upside down.

I used Fabri-Tac adhesive to glue all of the journal together. It “grabs” the fabric quickly so no need to hold and wait for it to dry.

Next I adhered trim around the outside to cover the raw edge of the journal.

Trim finished around the cover of the journal.

I adhered lace to either side of the center holes and where I couldn’t see the holes I used an awl to poke holes through the lace.

The inside cover I cut two pieces of stretchy lace and while gluing to the inside I pulled the lace taunt as I went.

I then finished the outer edges with trim.

I used a couple of my 8″x8″ stacks of cardstock and some graph paper to create the traveler’s notebooks for my journal. The 8″x8″ is a perfect size! No measuring or cutting down and all you have to do is fold and punch holes in the spine and sew together. The notebooks have ten papers per signature and I trimmed the excess cardstock that protruded from the notebooks to give  them a more finished look.

I finished the journal by adhering lace to the center and added an elastic band with a charm for the outside closure and strung the inside and added my traveler’s notebook and waa-laaa finished!

Fabric Micro Passport Planner

Hi everyone! I am here to share a micro planner I created using the Passport Diecut from Eileen Hull.


I wanted to make a planner out of fabric but I didn’t want it to be floppy so my solution was to use fusible webbing. First I cut the fabric and fusible webbing bigger than the actual diecut which you will need a total of four fabric and two fusible webbings cut off the covers and two fabrics and one webbing for the spine. 


Next I ironed the both pieces of the fabric to either side of the fusible webbing…there are directions on how to do that with fusible webbing when you purchase it…and once it is cool run it through the diecut machine to cut the covers and spine. It is ten times easier to do it this way that cut each individually and then try to iron it all together. Ask me how I know? I have already done this on one of my projects that will be shared later on. 😁 
I used Fabri-Tac Adhesive to adhered the covers and spine together according to the directions on the Passport Diecut and then I strung elastic cording through the holes in the spine and tied off according to the directions of the Journal Diecut. Since there was no way to keep the planner closed I punched a hole in the spine and added elastic cording.



The inside covers I adhered lace to create a pocket to hold journaling cards and washi tape. The tags that the washi tape are wrapped around tab closures from the Journal Diecut. I used the diecut packaging to cut these tabs and I embossed them with the Eyelet Lace Embossing Folder.


Did you know that you can use 4″x6″ journal cards in your planner? I didn’t! All you have to do is fold them in half and either staple or sewing them together to created a mini album! If you aren’t bothered with excess paper sticking out of the edge you can leave as is or cut off the excess and round the corners. I also added washi tape to the outside and inside so I wouldn’t accidentally catch my finger on the staple.


Also I added a divider to hold sticky notes on. I used the leftover piece of a file folder…you know the ones that you can purchase at Target…it is perfect since it is sturdy.


I added two micro notebooks that I had purchased from Michael’s and now the inside of the planner is complete.


The outside of the planner I trimmed the front and back with lace, trim and Ric Rac. I also added charms to the closure and spine to finish it off. As always if you have any questions about this project please let me know.

Felt China Doll Passport Journal

Hi everyone! I am here today to share a project I created for Eileen Hull’s blog! The team this month has teamed up with Kunin to show case their felt. The cool part about this felt is  it is recycled from plastic bottles…you would never know by the texture! 
I created a mini traveler’s notebook from the Passport Diecut for my mom for Mother’s Day.

I started by cutting two covers from white felt, two inside covers and a spine from White Paper Leather. Before adhering all together with Fabri-Tac Adhesive I embossed the paper leather covers with the Waffle Embossing Folder and the spine with the Daisy Wreath Embossing Folder. I forgot to add the paper leather I adhered to the inside of each cover to give the journal just enough rigidness yet flexibility for the journal to expand.

I also cut another cover from felt, cut in half used the Scallops on the Edge Diecut to add a little interest to the pocket. 
I used the following ColorBox Blends (these inks can be found on Eileen Hull’s etsy account HERE) on the cover and pocket: Frog, Leaf, Melon, Tutu and  Sunshine inks by applying color to my glass palette and adding a little water and then I splattered each color of ink separately and let dry.

While the covers and pocket where drying I cut from the Stitchy Flower and Leaf Diecuts a few flowers from the white, peach and olive felt. For the white felt flowers I painted those in Melon and Sunshine and let dry.

I fussy cut this china doll printable that I had purchased from Oxford Impressions (no longer available) and adhered to the cover. I adhered the flowers with gems, pearls and button to the doll.

 I found this micro notebook at Michael’s and thought this would be perfect to add to the inside of the journal. So all I had to do was add elastic cording and add the notebooks.

I had a leftover piece of notebook divider…you know the ones that you can purchase at Target in the Dollar Spot for a dollar? I folded and rounded the corners and added to the center elastic a place to hold sticky notes just in case my mom needs to jot down a reminder. 

In the back pocket I added a gift card to Hobby Lobby and a mini black gel pen but my mom she can use the pocket to receipts, stamps or whatever.

I love how easy it was to use the felt and how well the inks that I used on it turned out!

Doily Dori

Hi everyone! I am here to share a journal I created for Creativation/CHA for Eileen Hull’s booth this past January. I am really pumped over this Journal Diecut which will be coming to stores sometime in May.  

For this journal I cut the cover from felt and adhered together with Fabri-Tac adhesive. This is a great glue to use since it “grabs” and dries quickly.

On the cover I adhered a doily from my stash and a couple of felt flowers that I cut from the Stitchy Flowers and Leaf Diecuts and added a Dew Drop to the center of the flower.

I strung 3 MM elastic through the holes and tied off.

I cut down a couple of notebooks that I had picked up at the Target Dollar Spot so they would fit in the journal. 

See how easy peasy this was to create! Now I can either use it as a planner or as an art journal. 😀

Eileen Hull: Journal Envelope Pocket

Hi there! I am back for the third day in a row with another project I created for Eileen Hull’s booth at CHA/Creativation. This journal pocket I created for my foam-dori using the House/Pocket Stitchlits Diecuts. 

I cut four house/pocket diecuts from felt and “stacked” each diecuts end up on end (line up the holes) before stitching together because if you don’t it will make it hard to stitch all four pieces of felt together. I stitched the sides together to create pockets and the flaps I stitched individually.  I used cross stitch thread and did a back stitch on all edges. You can Google or Bing back stitching if you are unsure how to do this stitch.

The bottom flaps I used Fabri-Tac to adhere it to the pocket and the top flaps I added a velcro dot to keep each pocket closed.

I also cut a couple of felt flowers diecuts from the Stitchy Flowers and Leaf Collection and adhered to the flaps of the pocket journal. Now there is a place to hold stickers and washi tape samples in the foam-dori journal. Foam-dori Journal

Hi there! I am back again with yet another project that I created for Eileen Hull’s booth at CHA/Creativation.  This diecut I am very excited about its release since it can be used to make planners or dori’s as they are called. 
I used the Journal Diecut to cut the front and back of the journal from foam. I adhered the front and back together at the spine.


I used Fabri-Tac to adhered lace to the outside of the spine and inside. I also added Ric Rac and Pom Pom trim to dress up the outside of the dori.


I dressed up the inside of the dori with large Ric Rac and a lace pocket to hold notes, receipts or stickers.
I threaded elastic cording through the holes twice and tied off. This will hold four notebooks and in the center I threaded more elastic cording through the spine and tied off. This will keep this dori closed.
