Embrace Explosion Tiny Book Part One

Hi everyone! I’m here to share my project for Eileen Hull’s Inspiration Team. The theme this month is using unconventional materials with an assortment of diecuts. I had started one project with an empty plastic granola bag but the more I worked on it the worse the project looked. Soooo that was an epic fail and was thrown in the garbage.

The second project I had piece of leftover “spine” from a file folder I had cut a part. My intention was to create an extended Tiny Book Journal.

I folded the file folder in half, (make sure folded edge of the folder isn’t on the “cutting edge” of the Tiny Book Diecut) and used washi tape to hold in place while running through the Diecut Machine.

This is how the cover of the tiny book looked once I cut it. Not exactly what I had envisioned so I improvised.

I folded the almost cut into cover over on itself to reinforce the front cover.

I cut a part of the folder at an angle and adhered together so I could have a pocket in the back of the book.

I gathered up a piece of fabric, doily, patterned chipboard from packaging, an envelope, lace from a curtain that my cat shredded (insert mad face :-() and a candy wrapper.

I punched holed in the spine of the journal and all of the pages and sewed into the cover. Before tying off I threaded three buttons onto the outside of the spine. I added an assortment of circle punches, stickers, a little frozen Charlotte doll from my stash, a broken rhinestone buckle, lace, pom pom trim, thread and flower diecuts from the Folio Page, Pocket and Flower Thinlits to decorate the cover.

I’m going to stop here for now and share the inside of my tiny book on Thursday in a blog post since it is a massive amount of photos. Be sure to stop by Eileen Hull’s blog and see what the Inspiration and Educator Teams have created! You can find the latest posts HERE and HERE.

Also if you have any questions about this project please let me know.

  1. Love how you overcame all those obstacles in your way to create a fantastic tiny folio Tonya. I always love your choice of bright eclectic colours which always seem to work so well together when you use them. Looking forward to seeing inside x
