Eileen Hull Treasure Box Journal Tutorial | Part 2

Hi everyone! I’m back this week with part two of the “What’s in the box?”-The Treasure Box that is! I created a journal with the bottom half of the Treasure Box Diecut. It actually fits inside of the project that I shared last week. If you missed that post you can find it HERE. Anyways, let’s get started!

First, I cut out two of the bottom halves and a partial from the Treasure Box Diecut. I puzzled out how I was going to put the journal together. Then, I ditched the partial piece I cut out.

Next, I measured an inch from the tab, marked with a pencil and cut off.

I glued one of the side tabs to the other cover. This was when I realized I needed to cut down the height of the journal. I measured an inch from the crease in the cover, marked with a pencil and cut. I did this on both ends of the cover.

I glued the tabs to each end of the cover. I cut one of the flaps down even more. I did this so the closure with Brads would close.

I used the Bookbinding and Label Thinlits and cut one hinge out. I cut in half and use both to create the hinge for the inside of the journal.

I used an assortment of cardstock, vintage book pages and dies for the base of the inside pages.

I used the medium size tag from the Waterfall Card and Tags Thinlits through out the journal. I decorated with bits of lace, scraps of cardstock, and premade flowers. I also used leaves and a mini person from the Mini Paper Dolls.

I created a little pocket that I stuffed with a file folder and mini journaling cards.

I used the mini envelope as a pocket and stuffed with folded cardstock and tags.

I embossed a piece of cardstock with the Lace Embossing Folder. I lightly inked with chalk ink and added a circle punch and a button to the front and tags inside.

I love how all the pages turned out!

I used lace, ric rac, various cardstocks and a fussy cut feather to decorate the cover. I finished by adding loops of thread and a premade flower.

Versatile Treasure Box Craft Tutorial Part 1

Hi everyone! Wow! It’s hard to believe that this month is almost over and this is my first project of the month. I’m back from a much needed vacation, renewed, focused and ready to craft.

This month’s theme over on Eileen Hull’s blog is, “What’s in the box?”-The Treasure Box that is! This Scoreboard Treasure Box Diecut is extremely versatile. The team is showing so many different ways to use the treasure box. Anyways, let’s get started!

First, I applied an Adhesive Sheet to both sides of Chipboard. I removed the backing from the adhesive sheets and placed patterned cardstock to both sides of the chipboard. I then placed it onto the Treasure Box Diecut. I placed the diecut between two cutting plates. I ran it through the Diecut Machine.

Side note, I cut out two top/bottom, larger sides of the box and lid. Since I would be using metal hardware, I didn’t cut out the hinges the handle.

I glued all the cut pieces together. I did leave the top piece off the lid since I needed to punch holes into it. It’s almost impossible if you are using a Crop-A-Dile to punch the hole. Once I placed and marked with a pencil the holes for the closures and hinges I punched holes.

Instead of placing the hinges on the “long side” of the box I chose to do the short side. I adhered the top piece to the outside of the lid. I didn’t like seeing the tabs exposed on the inside. So, I cut two more top/bottom pieces. Then, I glued them to the inside. Next, I secured the closure and hinges with Long Fasteners. I adhered trim to the inside to cover the prongs of the brads and the feet to the box.

The bird and berries images was what was leftover from the cardstock I had used to cover the box. I fussy cut the bird and berries a part. I shaped some of the berries and leaves with a Stylus. I also shaped the wings of the bird. Then, I glued them to the lid. I dug into my stash and added a few flowers and loops of thread to the lid. I also placed a tiny gem in the center of a fussy cut flower.

I guess you noticed in the title of my blog post this is a part one? I’m creating something to go inside of this treasure box using the diecut but not the way it’s intended. Be sure to come back later on in the week for the second part where I’ll reveal what I’ve made.

Ephemera Book Journal Tutorial with Notebook Diecut and Painterly Blooms by Eileen Hull

Hi everyone! I’m back this week with a journal I created using the Notebook Diecut and Painterly Blooms and Background Thinlits by Eileen Hull. I love using the notebook diecut because it’s so quick and easy to put together. So, let’s get started!

I used the Flowers and Lace Cut and Create Ephemera Book by Calico Collage for the cover, pages and ephemera for the inside of the journal. If you don’t have a printer or your printer is on the fritz this is an easy solution. Everything is printed for you but in book form. The only thing you need to do is be “careful” when taking the book apart.

First, I took apart the book and selected the pages I wanted to use in my journal. Next I applied Adhesive Sheets to the front and back of a piece of Chipboard, placed the selected pages on top of the adhesive sheets. I placed the chipboard on top of the Notebook Diecut, placed in-between the cutting plates and ran through the Diecut Machine.

I cut papers from the ephemera book along with an envelope . I also used an old book page and grid paper for the inside pages.

I punched holes in all the papers and in the spine of the journal and sewed all five papers along with an envelope to the inside spine and tied off. Then I glued the envelope together.

There are several cut a parts in the ephemera book. I tucked cards in a floral pocket that I had fussy cut from the book and glued to the page.

Some of the cut a parts I “wrapped” around the page to create a flap and pocket to hold journaling cards.

I had fussy cut a doily which was actually too big for the journal so I folded one end up to create a little pocket to hold journaling cards.

There’s more tuck spots for ephemera and the backside of the envelope!

I chose to add some folded papers from the book along with a journaling card to the envelope. The opposite page I dressed up with cut a parts and washi tape.

I think this is my favorite spread in the whole journal! I love the “be fearless” and butterfly and on the opposite page I created a mini journal with one of the cut a parts…so many tiny bits and pieces in it.

I turned a banner from my stash into a tuck spot.

I kept these page pretty simple with a few cut a parts and a bit of pom pom trim.

The last page and inside cover I kept plain for journaling or adding photos.

The cover I decorated with an assortment of laces, scraps of cardstock, corrugated cardboard, and fussy cut pieces from the book. I also had two flowers and a leaf cut from the Painterly Blooms and Background Thinlits. I shaped with a Stylus before gluing the flowers on top of each other and adding a leaf to the back of the flower. This was the perfect finishing touch to the cover.

DIY Watercolor Flowers and Lattice Stencils Notebook

Hi everyone! I’m back with my first post of the month using the Painterly Blooms and Back Ground Thinlits, Watercolor Flowers and Lattice Stencils, Notebook Diecut, along few others dies and a embossing folder, all by Eileen Hull. Have you ever had a project that didn’t turn out the way you envisioned it? This notebook was a complete “train wreck” and nothing turned out the way it was supposed to. But I was determined to make it work and not trash what I had started. Anyways, let’s get started!

First, I used washi tape to place the lattice stencil from the Watercolor Flowers and Lattice Stencils onto a piece of Watercolor Paper. I inked an Art Dauber with Brown Chalk Ink and inked over the stencil.

Second, this is where the “train started to derail”, I had to move the stencil so I could cover all the watercolor paper. Guess what? I didn’t realize I didn’t line up the stencil.

Third, I had another idea on how I wanted to do the cover but I had to switch it up. Maybe I will do another notebook with the lattice with the original idea I had. Anyways, I decided to use a box cutter knife and cut out the messed up area on the stencil along with some random areas to make it look intentional. But before I cut anything out I placed an Adhesive Sheet onto the back of the watercolor paper. Side note…the adhesive sheet and the watercolor paper is very thick which made it hard to cut through everything. Will I do anything like this again? Hopefully not, my hand hurt from all the cutting.

Fourth, I peeled the backing from the adhesive sheet and placed in onto a piece of patterned cardstock.

Fifth, I placed the cardstock/watercolor paper onto the Notebook Diecut. Guess what I did? I placed the watercolor paper side “up” on the diecut so my “creases” were on what should be the inside cover. Ugh! I folded against the creases and that is why the spine looks a little ragged.

Sixth, I adhered a patterned cardstock to the inside since it didn’t exactly match the cover. But guess what? I didn’t cut the patterned cardstock to completely cover the inside cover.

Seventh, So, I embossed plain cardstock with the Lace 3D Embossing Folder and glued those to both inside covers. I glued a bit of ribbon to add detail to the inside.

I had a plain notebook that I removed the cover and punched holes with a Crop-A-Dile into the notebook and spine.

Eighth, I tied the notebook to the spine with jute. I added a little adhesive before placing the button from the Card Case Diecut and securing and tying to the spine.

Ninth, I gathered tulle, trim and lace and glued to the lower corner of the notebook. I had the label from the Card Caddy Diecut in my stash. I inked the edges of it with gold ink and placed on top of the trim.

Tenth, I cut three flowers and leaves from the Painterly Blooms and Back Ground Thinlits and shaped with a Stylus . I adhered the three flowers on top of each other and the leaves to the back before gluing to the label. I finished by adding a gem to the center of the flower and loops of thread.

Create Vibrant Drawers with Eileen Hull Dies – Easy Tutorial

Hi everyone! I’ve been under the weather this past week and wasn’t even sure I would get a blog post up by Friday. But I’m feeling better and wanted to share this colorful set of drawers I created. I used the Stacking Drawer Diecut, Painterly Blooms and Background Thinlits, Watercolor Flowers and Lattice Stencils and the Folio Page, Pocket and Flowers Thinlits, all by Eileen Hull. So let’s get started!

First, I applied Adhesive Sheets to both sides of Mat Board, then plain and patterned cardstock on either side of the mat board and placed onto the Stacking Drawer Diecut. I sandwiched between cutting plates and run through the Diecut Machine. Side note, I cut three drawers, six bottoms and two sleeves. The two sleeves I did not cover the outside with patterned cardstock but I did add a plain cardstock to the inside before cutting. The outside step will come later.

Second, I “peeled” the tabs so once I put the drawers together they would lay flat. The bottom inside of the drawer I applied glue to the tabs and placed one of the bottoms on top and once dry I applied adhesive to the tabs on the bottom of the drawer and covered with another bottom.

Third, I glued each sleeve together. Side note, I did add a “shim” of cardstock to either side of each sleeve. This keeps the drawer from falling out. I adhered all sleeves on top of each other.

Fourth, I cut two sleeves from patterned cardstock and adhered around the set of drawers.

Fifth, I used the Watercolor Flowers and Lattice Stencils to create violets. I taped the first stencil to a piece of Watercolor Paper and used a Blending Tool to apply a violet ink. The second stencil I placed over the inked area and used a darker purple ink. The third stencil I completed the same steps but this time used a light green for the leaves and centers of the flowers.

Sixth, I placed the Painterly Blooms and Background Thinlits onto the stenciled flowers and leaves and run through the diecut machine.

Seventh, I shaped four of the flowers and a few of the leaves from the Painterly Blooms and glued three on top of each other. I cut two snippets of lace and adhered to the top of the drawers and placed the shaped flowers and leaves on top of that.

I cut two of the large and one small circle flowers from the Folio Page, Pocket and Flowers Thinlits, shaped and adhered around the Painterly Blooms. I added gems and Pearls to the centers of the circle flowers. I finished by adding bows made of thread.

You could add trinkets to each of the drawers and give as a gift. There are so many possibilities with this diecut! What would you add if you made one?

Creative Tag Making with Eileen Hull Silverware 3D Embossing Folder

Hi everyone! I’m back with another tag. I had actually created this last week but I had family obligations that kept me away from blogging. So I’m sharing a week late and hopefully next week I can double up and do two posts instead of one.

Anyways, I used the Waterfall Card and Tags Thinlits, Silverware 3D Embossing Folder and the Faux Postage Thinlits, all by Eileen Hull, to create this tag. So let’s get started!

First, I cut two of the largest tags from the Waterfall Card and Tags Thinlits since I will have to glue these back to back. I placed the aqua color tag into the Silverware 3D Embossing Folder, place between one of the plates and platform and run through the Diecut Machine.

I lightly inked the raised edges with a green chalk ink. Next I applied Rose Gold Luster Wax over random areas of the tag. I also adhered both tags back to back before jumping into decorating the embossed side.

Second, I went through my pile of scraps and came across two partials of the Faux Postage Thinlits, a circle punch, “delicious” sentiment and a few long skinny scraps of cardstock. I adhered all those to the base of the tag.

Third, I stamped an image of silverware onto a piece of cardstock but I only fussy cut the spoon out and lightly inked with a brown chalk ink. The stamp set I used is from Tim Holtz: Nature Cling Stamps which is retired.

I fussy cut an image of a woman with a rabbit head from a itKuPiLLimaginarium Printable. I also used a box cutter and cut around the hand so I could place the spoon in the hand before gluing to the tag to finish this side.

Fourth, for the other side of the tag I used the negative of a circle that I had punched out, seven image and several scraps of patterned cardstock and glued to the tag.

Fifth, I picked a woman image from the Mini Paper Dolls and adhered to the tag. I dug into my stash flowers and glued to the skirt of the woman. I also added a button and thread to the center of the flower to finish.

Learning to Fly Tag

Hi everyone! I am back this week with another tag. I didn’t have a lot of time so it’s an uber quick and easy project using the Waterfall Card and Tags Thinlits by Eileen Hull. So let’s get started!

First, I cut two of the largest tags from the Waterfall Card and Tags Thinlits since these cardstocks had no design on the back. I glued those together.

I gathered a pink and orange strip of cardstock and adhered to the tag. I dug into my basket of chipboard embellishments and found a bird image, corner protector and a small flower circle.

Second, I matted the bird image with a piece of patterned cardstock, along with a polkadot scrap of cardstock and a scrap of Crochet diecut from the Crochet 2 Thinlits and glued all to the tag.

Third, I finished by adding a circle mat to the flower circle, a small yellow rose I had cut from a piece of cardstock and a “learning to fly” sticker sentiment to the tag.

Fourth, for the back of the tag, I adhered two patterned strips of cardstock to the tag. I pulled the mason jar image from my basket and glued to the tag.

Fifth, I picked out the little sitting boy and the little girl from the pack of Mini Paper Dolls and adhered the boy on top of the jar and the little girl next to the jar to finish the tag.

Vintage Buttons Tag

Hi everyone! I’m back with my tag for the week. I used leftover scraps from pervious projects and used Eileen Hull’s Vintage Buttons 3D Embossing Folder and the Tag and Bookplate Diecut (retired) by Tim Holtz. Anyways, let’s get started!

First, I had leftover scraps of Mat Board that I cut a tag from using the Tag and Bookplate Diecut (retired). Since the piece of mat board was shorter than the actual tag die I have a “short” version of the tag.

I placed the tag into the Vintage Buttons 3D Embossing Folder and run through the Diecut Machine.

I lightly inked the tag with a few different shades of blue inks.

Second, I really didn’t like the how the blue looked “flat” so I lightly inked over the raised areas with a green chalk ink. Then, I applied Rose Gold Luster Wax over the raised areas of the tag. You can use a Blending Tool to apply the wax but I chose to use my finger.

Third, I gathered up my cardstock scraps, these are from 7 Gypsies… I miss this company so much, I added those to the tag. I cut a a crochet piece from the Crochet #2 Thinlits, inked with a brown chalk ink and glued to the tag. The button card piece I did add thread to each button hole before adding to the tag.

Fourth, I dug into my stash of flowers and found this vintage looking flower and glued it onto the tag.

Fifth, I finished this side of the tag with bows made from thread and lace and a button.

Sixth, I covered the back of the tag with a polkadot cardstock. I kept this side simple by adding a few scraps of cardstock to the tag.

Seventh, the little boy image and butterfly wings was already fussy cut and ready in my stash. This printable is from the Steampunk Fairy Boys Paper Dolls. I glued another piece of the crochet diecut to the tag along with the butterfly boy, a bit of lace and a button to finish this side of the tag.

Old School Tag

Hi everyone! I’m back this week with another tag I created using Eileen Hull’s Waterfall Card and Tags Thinlits. Since my wrist has been bothering me this week I wasn’t sure if I would get one made but I powered through and created a quick and easy tag. Anyways, let’s get started!

First, I cut two of the largest tags from the Waterfall Card and Tags Thinlits and glued those back to back since the patterned cardstock was only on one sided.

Second, I added an assortment of scraps of cardstock to the base of the tag and then I dug into my basket of chipboard embellishments and glued the “old school”, “wear and tag” gauge and “splats” to the tag.

Third, I picked this dapper gentleman from the Mini Paper Dolls and adhered him next to the “old school” sentiment and called this side of the tag finished.

Fourth, for this side of the tag I used a scraps of cardstock and a few printables that was leftover from pervious projects. I adhered those to the base of the tag along with a doily shaped acetate overlay from my stash. I also added the “memories” sentiment on top of the overlay.

Fifth, I added a mini paper doll woman to the tag along a couple of Liquid Gloss dots to the flowers to finish this side of the tag.

Cotton Candy Mini Junk Journal

Hi everyone! I’m back this week with my project for Eileen Hull and this month’s theme is “Colors of Spring”. I choose soft pastel colors as the pallet for my journal using the Mini Book Diecut along with a few other dies by Eileen. Be forewarned, this is a long post so grab a snack and beverage and enjoy! Anyways, let’s get started!

First, I applied Adhesive Sheets to both sides of a piece of Mat Board. I placed cardstock from Prima Dulce 6″x6″ Paper Pad (retired) to the mat board, placed the Mini Book Diecut onto the mat board, sandwiched between the two cutting plates and run through the Diecut Machine.

Second, for the inside pages, I used the same paper pad along with an old book page with a total of four papers and a mini envelope to create a signature. I cut a file folder and envelope from the Envelope, Folder and Flowers Thinlits and one of the pages I cut with the Faux Postage Thinlits. I did cut it down to fit inside the journal.

Third, I used a Crop A Dile to punch holes in the spine and all the papers.

Fourth, I sewed them into the journal and tied off “inside” the envelope. I then glued together the envelope which hide where I tied everything into the spine.

Fifth, I cut a piece of ribbon as a closure and adhered to the center of the spine.

Sixth, I glued the label and the handle from the Mini Book Die to the spine, it covered the stitching and made it look neat. I added two buttons and Pearls to the spine.

Seventh, for the cover I cut an oval from the Journaling Card, Envelope and Windows Thinlits and glued to the cover. Side note, I made sure the ribbon was glued under the oval.

Eighth, I cut the box/oval from the Faux Postage Thinlits. I did remove the oval from the box before placing over the other oval.

Ninth, I selected a scrap of cardstock that had a tea cup and cupcake and adhered in the center of the box/oval. I finished by gluing two sequins and a leaf to the cover. Now for all the little details on the inside the journal!

Tenth, I added a belly band to the inside cover and cover that with a bit of trim. I cut the middle size tag from the Waterfall Card and Tags Thinlits and placed under the belly band. The opposite page is actually the file folder and I didn’t add any embellishments since I didn’t want to cover the images on that page.

Eleventh, for this set of pages, the first page is the back side of the file folder and on the opposite page I used the oval that I had removed from the box that is on the cover and glued to the page along with a bit of cardstock and a butterfly that I had fussy cut from the paper pad. I added a sequin to finish the page.

Twelfth, since my clip wasn’t long enough to hold the Faux Postage page, you can see a part of the book page which I didn’t add embellishments to. But the opposite page from the Faux Postage page is another book page. I used a Mini Paper Clip to hold a cut a part to the page.

Thirteen, on this set of pages, I fussy cut images from the paper pad, added part of a postage die and sequins to that page. The envelope is from Envelope, Folder and Flowers Thinlits.

I added the leftover bits of Faux Postage dies inside the envelope and used a mini paperclip to hold it closed. I also added lace to the paperclip.

Fourteen, for this set of pages, I cut a heart from the Envelope, Folder and Flowers Thinlits and adhered it to the back of the envelope. The opposite page I glued a bit of mini Pom Pom trim to the page.

Fifteen, on these set of pages I added no embellishments. A side note, the Faux Postage Thinlits was easy to stitch it into the journal since the holes were already there.

Sixteen, this set of pages, is the backside of the Faux Postage page.

The opposite page I fussy cut the Farris wheel out from the paper pad and adhered two of the corners to the page to create a pocket. I added a cut a part to the pocket.

Seventeen, this set of pages, I glued lace to the page and the opposite page is the other half of the file folder. I added the tiny “thoughts” sticker that I had found in my planner stuff to the tab.

Eighteen, this set of pages, I left plain and the back inside cover I added another belly band with trim and a tag to finish the journal.
