Poinsettia Mini Album

Hi everyone! I came across this mini red album that someone had given me a few years ago while I was searching for something else in my massive stash of scrapbook supplies I have. I thought this would make a cute Christmas mini. Well, I gathered scraps of Christmas cardstock, embellishments, stickers and fiber and this is what I came up with.

 It’s really hard to believe that in little over two months Christmas will be here! I hope this inspires you to create your own mini, hope your Thursday is wonderful and enjoy creating!!!



Bats and Cats Treat Bags

Hi everyone! I’m back to share two more treat/goodies sack I created. I used some of the Halloween (Transylvania) Cardstock collection that is 20% off over at the Robin’s Nest to make these super adorable sacks.

I glimmered misted both of the doilies and while I let them dry I cut out the rosette and adhered that together. Then all I had to do was add a bit of Purple Glitter Crackle Cardstock, trim, bling, buttons and stickers. Easy peasy!!! 🙂

This little sack I finally used a die I have had forever from Cuttlebug that has a bunch of mini Halloween characters such as skull, pumpkins, ghost, spider, bat, etc. The googlie eyes are a perfect addiction to the little bats. The other Cuttlebug die has a Happy Halloween Embossing Folder that goes with it. I inked around the edges and inked a little of the “Happy Halloween” and then used stickles around the outer edge of the die. I embossed just the pumpkin in Orange Glitter Crackle Cardstock which I fussie cut out and added stickles around the edges. The last thing I added was sequins, bling and dew drops.

Both treat/goodie sacks were very easy and really didn’t take a lot of time to make.

Wear Your Colors with Style

Hi everyone! I hope everybody had a fun and safe 4th of July. I had plans of lounging in the pool, eating hot dogs off of the grill and being a total bum but the weather sure didn’t cooperate. Rain, rain and more rain!!! So instead of fun in the sun it was fun crafting most of the day. This is a card I created in honor of the holiday.

I used scraps of cardstock, patterned scrapbook paper, ric rac, sticker from Creative Imagination, a Dew Drop from The Robin’s Nest, circle punch, Sizzix Tim Holtz Scallop diecut, Timeless Twine, Tim Holtz cling stamps, Seamless Experience (dress form), rusted star, white acrylic paint, Mod Podge and the sentiment I typed out on my computer.

Butterfly Junk Journal

Hi everyone and Happy Friday!!! I have a quick post I would like to share with you.  I participated  in a Tiny Junque Journal Daybook Style Swap in the Scrappy Diva’s group over on Facebook. My swap partner, Von, I hope will like this little journal I created. I used envelope, paperbags, wallpaper, old greeting cards, doily, book pages, postage stamps, paint chips, coin wrapper, map, scrapbook paper, seam binding, bakery’s twine and all sorts of embellishments.
I’m off running errands this morning, then maybe a little quality time in the pool and tonight is the opening of Riverbend. Ten days of lots of music, lots of people on the Tennessee River!!! Tonight I can’t wait to hear Georgia Florida Line and Jake Owens.

A Star is Born Altered Coffee Sleeve Mini Album

Hi everyone! I’m super excited to share a mini album I created for The Robin’s Nest design team call that I am trying out for again. I found on You Tube a tutorial by Simplyshimmeryscraps for this adorable coffee cup sleeve mini that I getting ready to share with you. I have included the link for her directions here. I figure this would be easier than trying to write out a VERY lengthy set of directions. 🙂
You can pick up coffee sleeves at almost any place that serves coffee. The ones I used to create this little mini came from Panera Beard they are slightly bigger than the ones that you can get at Starbucks.

I used the Special Girl cardstock and embellishments that brand spanking new from The Robin’s Nest. The collection is SO girly and cute!!!

Here is a list of supplies I used:

Four Coffee Sleeves
Prima Flowers
Scraps of scrapbook paper, leftover stickers, embellishments

First off you will need to trace around the coffee sleeve with your choice of cardstock doing both sides for all four sleeves. Also I inked the edges of all the coffee sleeves. Cut out card stock and adhere to each side of the sleeves.

Cut a piece of cardstock to 6 7/8x 4 inches for the binding hinges. Each end of the cardstock  score 1 inch and then score 3/8 inches till you get to where you scored the 1 inch end.
Fold and adhere each “hinge” in the center. Your binding should look something like this below.
Next use a liquid glue to adhere each sleeve to each hinge.

This is how your pages should look after placed and glued on the binding hinge.
Next you need to cut two 2 3/4 x 5 inches for the front and back and the spine cut a 2 x 5 inches of chip board for your mini. Also please watch the video from Simplyshimmeryscraps which will go into detail directions on how to adhere the hinge to the covers and spine. I did take photos of how to do that but as far as explaining it in writing I think it would be better to watch the video…lol 
Below is the finished cover of my mini.
I punched holes in the spine, added eyelets, chain, lace, ribbon, fiber and charms.

In one of the flowers on the front of my mini I used one of the Special Girl Little Friends Baby Girls and added it inside of the little flower.

I also added inserts to the sleeves. For those I actually made a a pattern of the sleeve and then cut it a little bit smaller.

The Special Girl Baby Girl Stickers where a little bit too big so I cut them down some so they would fit on the pages. I added Dew Drops to give them a little extra zing. 🙂

The Robin’s Nest: Altered Mini Sewing Box Matchbox

Hi everyone!!! What a crazy month it has been!!! I have been trying to get another craft room ready in my soon to be hubby’s house. Packing up stuff to take to Goodwill, pulling staples out of the wall, scraping stickers off of the walls and doors and pulling glow in the dark stars off of the ceiling…can you tell the room belonged to one of his daughters??? 😉 I have paint and laminate flooring bought but I still have to “putty up” the tiny holes in the wall, wipe the walls down and rip the carpet up. Oh so much to do but once it is all done it will be well worth it. 🙂
First off I would like to share with you there is a 20% off sale going on in the Robin’s Nest store on all Tear shaped Dew Drops and we have also teamed up with Mod Podge this month which I will be using Antique Matt Mod Podge on my project that I will be sharing with you.


When I need to sew on a button or stitch up a hem I always seemed to be searching for needle and thread so I decided that for this month project I wanted to create something to store  my needles and thread in.
Below is some of the supplies I used to create my little notions box.

First off I emptied a 250 count matchbox and then painted the inside with Americana Spa Blue.

 
 
       


Then I lightly spritzed the inside and outside of the tray with walnut ink and then with a paper towel I rubbed and blended it in, let it dry and then measure and cut a piece of Calamity Jane Glitter Diagonal Cardstock to fit the inside of the bottom of the tray.

I then cut two pieces of Seashore Glitter Cardstock for the front and back of the tray. I inked all pieces of cardstock and then mod podged to the tray. I let dry and then punch holes in the tray, add label pull, brads and notions label.   

For the outside cover of the matchbox I measured, cut, folded Calamity Jane Glitter Diagonal Cardstock around the box, inked edges of paper and then after the ink dried I mod podge it to the box.

 

I then cut a piece of Seashore Glitter Cardstock and folded like the diagram that is below. I inked the edges and used a scallop punch on the folded 1/2 inch end.

 
I adhered a 10 inch piece of seam binding to the middle of the matchbox cover and then mod podge the 2 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch cardstock that I folded on top of the cover. Once that dried I cut a smaller piece of scrapbook paper, mod podge to the top of the 2 1/2 flap. Let that dry and then I used the gate sticker from the   Vintage Angel Sticker sheet and place on top of that and mod podge over the top and the 1/2 inch scalloped flat too.
 
 
I used Texture-Linen,  Robin’s Nest Straw Velvet Ribbons** and Distressed Honeycomb Cardstock to create all the flowers on the front flap except I did use two Prima flowers. Below is an example of how to make the linen flower.
 
 
 
First I cut a small strip off of one of the squares of linen, twist it and glue one of the ends. Start rolling it into a circle and then apply glue to back of it.
 
 
 
I used the Robin’s Nest Straw Velvet Ribbons** to create the dark and light blue flowers. It was really simple to make. First off you sew thread through the bottom edge of the ribbon. Once you have it as long as you want pull the thread to gather it and then tie off. Then shape it the way you want it to look and glue and add dew drops.


 
 
Now for the inside flap…I adhered the other 10 inches of seam binding to the inside flap and then cover it with a piece of matching scrapbook paper. I attached on the opposite side a sheet of needles.

The cream colored mini flowers I used Distressed Honeycomb Cardstock which I used one of my flower punches to punch out a few. I used a glimmer mist to wet them, then placed them on a piece of sponge and used a stylus to shape them. Then I let them dry and wha-laaa instant cute flowers. 🙂

I decided that I wanted to foof up my spools of thread. I used a small circle punch and punched out several circles from the Moss Green Glitter cardstock and glued to the top of each spool and then I decorated with dew drops, buttons and flowers.

Now my little sewing box is finished and if I need to sew on a button everything is all in one place and ready to go.
I hope this has inspired you to create your own sewing box or if you don’t sew…maybe create a little drawer to hold all your scrapbook embellishments…the possibilities are endless. 🙂

Air Mail Art Journal Page

Hi everyone! I’m just dropping by for a “quick share” of another art journal page I created. I’m still using up stickers from The Robin’s Nest Stamp Tag Kit…stamp, post mark and circles…and I also used from my Robin’s Nest stash white alphabet stickers which I inked with Versa Magic Aloe Vera Chalk Ink.


I used Tattered Angels Vintage Seasons Timeless Romance wings stamp to make the stamp look like it was flying and Fancy Pants Delights circle stamps on top of the circle stickers to add some extra interest.

I raided my scrap bin of scrapbook paper and also included a piece of a dictionary page and a page from a book on roses to finish off this page.

Fly Away With Me Journal Page

Hi there! I want to share a quick post with everyone. I had stickers from the Stamp Tag Kit leftover from one of my projects I created for the Robin’s Nest and I wanted to see if I could somehow incorporate them in a journal page. I started out with a junk mail envelope as the base to start my page with.


I used bits of scrapbook paper, bit of lace, stamped images…fancy pants Delights stamps and the small butterfly stamp is from Christy Tomlinson… and a piece of an old dictionary page.

I had a #8 tag that I had painted, stenciled and then I sprayed with Perfect Pearl Mist that I wanted to somehow include on the page too. I used the brownish round sticker, blue chipboard tag…which I inked…and the blue and yellow Dew Drops from the Robin’s Nest Stamp Tag Kit to embellish with. 


Here’s a close up of the swirl tag that is included in the kit. I used the “leftover” of a circle I had punched out to highlight the word approved on the page.

Crafty Card Gallery DT and a Art Journal Page Thrown in too

I would have shared this sooner but have been under the weather this week. I do now feel a lot better. First I would like to share some super fun news…drum rolls please… I made the Crafty Card Gallery Design Team…I’m doing the happy dance. Me along with 17 other super talented crafty folks were selected to Jennifer Restivo’s inaugural design team.

Also I would like to share a quick photo of a page out of my art journal I had worked on. This page is actually made out of a toilet paper roll. First I flattened the roll, used a bone folder to get sharp edges on the roll. The front I wanted to share my cousin Lorie’s birthday. I used scrap’s of scrapbook paper, heart button embellishment, baker’s twine, stamped July the 4th and finally used some left over Crafty Secrets images.


On the other side, which I had a total blast creating, I used scraps of scrapbook paper, eyelet, Prima flower with a brad in the center, Prima wings, Martha Stewart crown punch with a button in the center, the baby is a leftover Crafty Secrets image that half of the body had been cut away. So to cover up this obvious flaw I made a “nest” out packing paper…I think it turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself…***smiles***…and last but not least I used some Pink Paislee stickers for the date.

Art Journaling with a Twist

    I would like to share a quick post of my attempt at starting an art journal. I have SO many scraps of scrapbook paper laying around I decided I really needed to do something with it all…the hoarder in me won’t let me give it away or even worse throw it away…GASP!!!

 
 


This page is actually some scrapbook paper I could have used to make a card with. I thought it would work nicely with a photo of me from the beach…which is my favorite photo and some scraps, stickers and embellishments. The “Facts about Me” is a tag that pulls out from behind the photo and has information about me on it.

 
The next page is a body, words and cat head I clipped from a magazine. I also used scraps of scrapbook paper and the meow and cat are stickers I had laying around. I had loads of fun creating this page.

 
I actually received this scrap of paper in a “stuff an envelope swap” and this is what I came up with. I had a photo of my nephew Cameron when he was young that really wasn’t a good photo because of what was in the back ground. My solution was use a decorative punch to punch out my nephew, use leftover clip art, stamp his age and the date on the page and I used a Robin’s Nest Dew Drop on top of the party hat.

I do have some more pages I have created but I’m dog tired and hear my bed calling me. I hope this inspires you.
