Robot Valentine’s Day Card: You Make My Heart Beep

Hi everyone! Valentine’s Day is only a couple of days away and I want to share a quick card I made. I used the Mini Album Diecut as the base for the card. I used a few other dies and thinlits by Eileen Hull. Also this month it’s “Anything Goes” with Eileen Hull’s Inspiration Team. Anyways, let’s get started!

First, I would like to share a side note about the robot printable I used. I had been fooling around on AI creating images and I came up with these fat, steampunk and vintage robots. I thought this would be perfect to use on a card.

Anyways, I placed a piece of brown cardstock onto the Mini Album Diecut. It was sandwiched between cutting plates. Then, I ran it through the Diecut Machine. I folded in half to create the base of the card.

I cut a piece of cardstock slightly smaller than the base of the card.I also cut a strip of cardstock and inked both pieces with Brown Chalk Ink. I glued both to the card base.

I cut out the teardrop heart from the Charms Thinlits. I will be using the largest heart from the teardrop.

Next, I cut out the circle from the Ornament Box Diecut (retired). I embossed the circle with the Dotted Embossing Folder. I lightly applied Rose Gold Luster Wax over the embossed area of the circle.

I adhered the circle to the edge of the card. I printed the “You Make my Heart Beep” sentiment from my computer. I cut out a mat to frame the sentiment. I inked the edges and glued both together. I added Foam Pop Dots to the back before placing on the card.

I fussy cut a robot from the printable. I placed it off center of the circle and glued the largest heart to the center of its chest.

Ephemera Book Journal Tutorial with Notebook Diecut and Painterly Blooms by Eileen Hull

Hi everyone! I’m back this week with a journal I created using the Notebook Diecut and Painterly Blooms and Background Thinlits by Eileen Hull. I love using the notebook diecut because it’s so quick and easy to put together. So, let’s get started!

I used the Flowers and Lace Cut and Create Ephemera Book by Calico Collage for the cover, pages and ephemera for the inside of the journal. If you don’t have a printer or your printer is on the fritz this is an easy solution. Everything is printed for you but in book form. The only thing you need to do is be “careful” when taking the book apart.

First, I took apart the book and selected the pages I wanted to use in my journal. Next I applied Adhesive Sheets to the front and back of a piece of Chipboard, placed the selected pages on top of the adhesive sheets. I placed the chipboard on top of the Notebook Diecut, placed in-between the cutting plates and ran through the Diecut Machine.

I cut papers from the ephemera book along with an envelope . I also used an old book page and grid paper for the inside pages.

I punched holes in all the papers and in the spine of the journal and sewed all five papers along with an envelope to the inside spine and tied off. Then I glued the envelope together.

There are several cut a parts in the ephemera book. I tucked cards in a floral pocket that I had fussy cut from the book and glued to the page.

Some of the cut a parts I “wrapped” around the page to create a flap and pocket to hold journaling cards.

I had fussy cut a doily which was actually too big for the journal so I folded one end up to create a little pocket to hold journaling cards.

There’s more tuck spots for ephemera and the backside of the envelope!

I chose to add some folded papers from the book along with a journaling card to the envelope. The opposite page I dressed up with cut a parts and washi tape.

I think this is my favorite spread in the whole journal! I love the “be fearless” and butterfly and on the opposite page I created a mini journal with one of the cut a parts…so many tiny bits and pieces in it.

I turned a banner from my stash into a tuck spot.

I kept these page pretty simple with a few cut a parts and a bit of pom pom trim.

The last page and inside cover I kept plain for journaling or adding photos.

The cover I decorated with an assortment of laces, scraps of cardstock, corrugated cardboard, and fussy cut pieces from the book. I also had two flowers and a leaf cut from the Painterly Blooms and Background Thinlits. I shaped with a Stylus before gluing the flowers on top of each other and adding a leaf to the back of the flower. This was the perfect finishing touch to the cover.

DIY Watercolor Flowers and Lattice Stencils Notebook

Hi everyone! I’m back with my first post of the month using the Painterly Blooms and Back Ground Thinlits, Watercolor Flowers and Lattice Stencils, Notebook Diecut, along few others dies and a embossing folder, all by Eileen Hull. Have you ever had a project that didn’t turn out the way you envisioned it? This notebook was a complete “train wreck” and nothing turned out the way it was supposed to. But I was determined to make it work and not trash what I had started. Anyways, let’s get started!

First, I used washi tape to place the lattice stencil from the Watercolor Flowers and Lattice Stencils onto a piece of Watercolor Paper. I inked an Art Dauber with Brown Chalk Ink and inked over the stencil.

Second, this is where the “train started to derail”, I had to move the stencil so I could cover all the watercolor paper. Guess what? I didn’t realize I didn’t line up the stencil.

Third, I had another idea on how I wanted to do the cover but I had to switch it up. Maybe I will do another notebook with the lattice with the original idea I had. Anyways, I decided to use a box cutter knife and cut out the messed up area on the stencil along with some random areas to make it look intentional. But before I cut anything out I placed an Adhesive Sheet onto the back of the watercolor paper. Side note…the adhesive sheet and the watercolor paper is very thick which made it hard to cut through everything. Will I do anything like this again? Hopefully not, my hand hurt from all the cutting.

Fourth, I peeled the backing from the adhesive sheet and placed in onto a piece of patterned cardstock.

Fifth, I placed the cardstock/watercolor paper onto the Notebook Diecut. Guess what I did? I placed the watercolor paper side “up” on the diecut so my “creases” were on what should be the inside cover. Ugh! I folded against the creases and that is why the spine looks a little ragged.

Sixth, I adhered a patterned cardstock to the inside since it didn’t exactly match the cover. But guess what? I didn’t cut the patterned cardstock to completely cover the inside cover.

Seventh, So, I embossed plain cardstock with the Lace 3D Embossing Folder and glued those to both inside covers. I glued a bit of ribbon to add detail to the inside.

I had a plain notebook that I removed the cover and punched holes with a Crop-A-Dile into the notebook and spine.

Eighth, I tied the notebook to the spine with jute. I added a little adhesive before placing the button from the Card Case Diecut and securing and tying to the spine.

Ninth, I gathered tulle, trim and lace and glued to the lower corner of the notebook. I had the label from the Card Caddy Diecut in my stash. I inked the edges of it with gold ink and placed on top of the trim.

Tenth, I cut three flowers and leaves from the Painterly Blooms and Back Ground Thinlits and shaped with a Stylus . I adhered the three flowers on top of each other and the leaves to the back before gluing to the label. I finished by adding a gem to the center of the flower and loops of thread.

Thinking of You Peacock Card

Hi everyone and Happy 1st of May! As the weather starts warming up and my time indoors is less, you know gardening and time in the pool, I wanted to share a quick and easy card I created. I used Eileen Hull‘s Faux Postage Thinlits and the Floral Silhouettes Thinlits (only at Scrapbook.com) to create this card in under 15 minutes. So let’s get started!

First, I folded a piece of Blue Cardstock in half and placed the “fold line” slightly inside of the of the rectangle thinlit from the Faux Postage Thinlits before running through the Diecut Machine. Side note, I did use wash tape to hold the thinlit in place while running through the diecut machine. This keeps the thinlit from shifting.

Second, I selected the peacock cardstock from the Flourish 6″x6″ Paper Pad (retired). I had already cut off a portion of the cardstock to create a journaling spot and the cardstock didn’t completely cover all of the Faux Postage Thinlit so I centered the image onto the thinlit and ran through the diecut machine.

Third, I cut a mat from White Cardstock and adhered to the back of the peacock image.

Fourth, I glued the peacock image to the card base.

Fifth, I used a scrap of Watercolor Paper, placed onto the MISTI Stamping Tool, placed the journaling box stamp from Simple Sayings Stamps Set, inked with Black Ink and stamped onto the watercolor paper.

I removed the journaling box and placed the “Thinking of You” stamp sentiment onto the MISTI Stamping Tool, inked with Black Ink and stamped inside of the journaling box image.

Sixth, I fussy cut the image with Scissors and adhered to the bottom corner of the card. I cut three flowers and two leaf sprigs from the Floral Silhouettes Thinlits (only at Scrapbook.com), shaped the flowers with a Stylus and glued two together and adhered one leaf sprig to the back before placing it to the lower corner of the sentiment. The other flower I cut one of the leaves off from the leaf sprig and glued to the back of the flower before adding to upper corner of the sentiment. I glued two gems to the center of each flower to finish.

The Faux Postage Thinlits can take any large graphic image on a piece of cardstock, you know the ones that you really aren’t sure what to do with it, and and turn it into a simple card. Or you can remove a few of the “postage stamps” and replace them for a completely different look. So many possibilities!

Snow Village

Hi everyone! If you have been following me for any length of time you know I love to alter or up-cycle anything that you would be thrown in the trash. I used an empty cheese container as the base to create this home decor piece. I used the village thinlit from the Starlit Village and Card Panel Thinlits, Everyday Tags and Labels Thinlits (both only at Scrapbook.com), Crochet Mandala Embossing Folder and the Shadow Box frames Set 2 Thinlits all by Eileen Hull to pull together a fun little snow village. So let’s get started!

First, I painted a Laughing Cow cheese container with two coats of aqua paint and let dry.

Second, I applied Ivory Luster Wax around the exposed edges of the container.

Third, I cut two villages from the Starlit Village and Card Panel Thinlits and a frame from the Shadow Box frames Set 2 Thinlits. I cut the frame to the length of the village die, put together according to the direction, cut patterned cardstock to “fit” each end of the frame with excess to fold around the frame and glued.

Fourth, before gluing the village onto either side of the frame I had to cut a piece of light blue cardstock. I adhered the cardstock to the inside of the largest house to cover the windows and door. Here is where it gets a little tricky. I had to cut strips of patterned cardstock for each house to create “walls”. I adhered each piece into place.

Fifth, before adhering the house onto the container. I placed the container onto the container and drew a circle and cut out. I then embossed with the Crochet Mandala Embossing Folder and glued to the top of the container.

Sixth, I cut and folded four white pieces of cardstock each to fit each roof line of each houses. I adhered each into place and applied Glitter Glue onto each of the roofs to create the look of snow.

Seventh, I cut a label and two snowflakes from the Everyday Tags and Labels Thinlits. I cut the bottom off the label and glued to the front of the container. I adhered both the snowflakes together before adding to the label. I also added a sequin and dew drop to the center of the snowflake.

Eighth, I added gems to the house to create the look of strung lights.Side note…if you don’t have the Starlit Village and Card Panel Thinlits you can also use the Shadow Box Elements Thinlits and create your own village.

Santa Treat Box

Hi everyone! I’m kicking off the first day of December with a project that can be used as a treat or trinket box or as a way to hold a small gift for Christmas. I used the Slotted Treat Box Diecut, Mandala Thinlit and the mini snowflake from the Everyday Labels and Tags Thinlits (only at Scrapbook.com) to create this treat box. These dies are all by Eileen Hull.So let’s get started!

First, I applied Adhesive Sheets to each side of Mat Board and placed a Christmas patterned cardstock (I think this is very old collection My Mind’s Eye cardstock) onto each side of the mat board. Side note, if you don’t have mat board you can use chip board in its place.

Second, I sandwiched the covered mat board and Slotted Treat Box Diecut between two plates and ran through the Diecut Machine. I cut two of each of each die out and put together.

Third, I adhered flat back pearls around the edges of the box, marked the holes for the closure and Hinges, punched holes into the box with a Crop A Dile and added brads to hold the clasp and hinges in place.

Fourth, I glued trim around the inside lid and box. This “helps”secure the brads in place when opening and closing the box.

Fifth, I applied adhesive sheets to cardstock and cut three of the mini snowflakes from the Everyday Labels and Tags Thinlits. I applied a snowflake to cover the “slot” on either side of the box. I added a flat back pearl to the center of each snowflake.

Sixth, I applied adhesive sheet to another piece of patterned cardstock and cut the Mandala Thinlit. I applied the mandala die onto the lid along with the extra snowflake and added a flat back pearl. I fussy cut a Santa image from a piece of cardstock and glued to the corner of the lid to call it finished.

I think anyone would love to receive this as a gift and the theme could be changed for any holiday or special event. What do you think? If you have any questions about this project please let me know.

Chrysanthemum Slotted Box

Hi everyone! I’m back this week with another project featuring Eileen Hull’s Slotted Treat Box Diecut, Sunflower Diecut, the smaller flowers are from Everyday Tags and Labels Thinlits (only at Scrapbook.com) and the Shadow Box Elements Thinlits.

A little side story about me and the slotted treat box die. My first project, which I haven’t shared yet, because it’s Christmas related. Anyways, I had bought what I thought was mat board at Hobby Lobby. I had found it in the art supply section and was the perfect size where it could be cut down unlike the huge pieces of mat board which takes a little more effort. Fast forward I bought it got it home and covered with some of my favorite Christmas cardstock, that I had been hoarding, and on the back side I covered with Cork Cardstock when I went to run it through the Diecut Machine with the Slotted Treat Box Diecut it WOULD. NOT. CUT! It made an indention but that was it. At first I thought the diecut was defective ( insert me having a big panic attack) but I finally used a scrap of regular mat board I had and it cut. So needless to say I had to toss it.

Now back to the project at hand, the theme this month over on Eileen Hull’s blog is all about recipes. It’s not food related but technique related. So let’s get started!

Step One

I applied Adhesive Sheets to both sides of the Mat Board, then the patterned cardstock, placed onto the slotted treat box diecut and run through the diecut machine. I had to cut two sides, two of the front and back, four sides for the lid and a top and a bottom for the box.

The flaps I peeled the excess of mat board and one side of the cardstock off so once adhered together the flaps will lay “flatter” and there won’t be as much bulk.

Step Two

Next I glued all the sides to the lid and bottom of the box.

Step Three

I had hinges, brads and a handle but they were mauve and gold. Definitely not the colors I wanted to use with the box. I sprayed painted them all a brushed nickel finish. Here’s another little side note, if you have the wrong color of brads you can punch holes into a piece of chipboard, place each brad in the hole and open the pongs to secure in place while spray painting. It’s a quick and easy fix.

Step Four

I also applied Charcoal Luster Wax over the edges of the handle, brads and hinges for depth.

Step Five

I used washi tape to hold the hinges and the handle in place while marking the holes. Then I used a Crop A Dile for the holes and then installed the hinges and handle. I also added a trim on the inside of the box to cover the pongs of the brads.

Step Six

I cut out six each of the large and small size flowers and two of the centers and one leaf from the Sunflower Diecut. I shaped the large and small flowers with a Stylus.

I also cut out three small and four middle size flowers from the Everyday Tags and Labels Thinlits and shaped. The small size flowers I stacked and adhered together with the large and small flowers from the sunflower die. I also shaped the leaf with a stylus, my hand and inked before adhering to the corner of the flower. The center of the flower at first I shaped with a stylus but didn’t like so I scrunched and inked.

The four middle flowers I shaped and stacked two each together. I also cut out six of the tiny flowers from the Shadow Box Elements Thinlits and shaped all of those. I added two of those to the center of the middle size flowers. I adhered all flowers to the lid of the box and added beads, gems and buttons to the center of each flower. I also glued cording bows, lace and twigs from my yard to finish.

This box is perfect for storing things or making to give as a gift. I hope you trying to create one for your self soon.

Warm Wishes Slimline Card

Hi everyone! I’m back with my project for Eileen Hull and this month’s theme is anything Halloween or Fall. I choose to do something Fall because I had a card base already cut out and it was screaming at me to make a card. I used the Journal Diecut and the Floral Silhouette Thinlits (only on Scrapbook.com) to create this card. So let’s get started!

I know I’ve shared the dimensions of a slimline card before but I will share again a traditional slimline card measures 3 5/8″x8 5/8″ which is about the size of the Journal Diecut.

I folded a piece of Kraft Cardstock in half and place slightly below the cutline. I also used wash tape to hold the cardstock in place as I run it through the diecut machine.

I’m a firm believer in using up what you have and since I had a pile of cardstock scraps I dug through those and came up with some that had the “look” of fall. I arranged and adhered layers of patterned cardstocks to the base of the card.

I had a 12″x12″ sheet of floral cut a parts with an assortment of sentiments and I picked the “Warm Wishes” sentiment because it had the look of Fall. I cut a piece of cardstock slightly larger than the sentiment and glued both together before adding Foam Pop Dots to the back and placing onto the card base.

From the Floral Silhouette Thinlits I cut out three of the larger, two middle and four small flowers along with five centers and three of the leaf sprigs. I shaped the larger flowers with a Stylus and added adhesive to the back and layered on top of each other. I shaped three of the smallest and one of the middle flowers, gluing one of the smallest flowers on the middle flower before adding all around the larger flower. I finished by adding the centers to each flower, leaf sprigs and a bow made from cording.

I had a leftover middle and small sized flowers which I glued together, added a center and leaf sprig to complete the card.

I plan on making more slimline cards and using up the cut a parts so I will have a stash of cards on hand for different occasions.

Blue Delft Box with Greeting Cards

Hi everyone! This month it’s a big box bonanza over on Eileen Hull’s blog! I had two 8.5″x11″ sheets of this blue and white floral cardstock that I wanted to make something with and I thought the Card Caddy Diecut and an assortment of thinlits by Eileen would make the perfect gift box of cards. I limited the color pallet of the embellishments on the cards to shades of light green and different shades of blue since the base of each card is white. Anyways, this is my take for this month’s challenge. So let’s get started!

I cut a piece of Mat Board down since my cardstock was smaller than the mat board, applied Adhesive Sheets to both sides and placed the patterned cardstock on what will be the front and a solid cardstock on what will be the inside of the box. I placed the larger piece of mat board between the plates and run through the Diecut Machine. I did the same steps for the two smaller pieces which are the sides of the box.

The flaps/tabs on the sides and bottom I “peeled” some of the cardstock and mat board off before adhering both to either side of the box. Side note, this makes the flaps/tabs lay flatter when gluing to the box.

I cut out labels and flowers from the Everyday Tags and Labels Thinlits. I layered the labels and adhered to the center of the box. I shaped the flowers and leaves with a Stylus before adhering all to the center of the label.

I folded White Cardstock in half and placed slightly below the cutline of the panel thinlit, this die can be found in the Starlit Village and Card Panel Thinlits, and cut out a total of four cards.

I used the Crochet Mandala Embossing Folder and embossed strips of cardstock for each of the cards. For the first card I used the tag, labels, leaves and flowers from the Everyday Tags and Labels Thinlits and cut out the word “hello” from the Alphanumeric Thinlit. I also used the oval die from the Journaling Card, Envelope and Windows Thinlits to decorate the card base.

For the second card I used the same supplies with a slightly different layout but used a “hi” sentiment instead.

The third card I changed it up a bit and used the negative parts of the letters to spell “hi” and the floral and circle tags. I also shaped the small flowers and leaves and adhered to the sentiment.

The fourth and final card I used the same supplies as the third card but I used the negative letters that spell “hey” and glued to the base of the card.

The cards fit perfectly inside the box laying down.

Slimline Winter Wishes Snowflake Card

Hi everyone! I know it is still over four months until Christmas but I wanted to share a quick card I created for the holiday season using the Journal Diecut , Wreath and Snowflake Thinlits and Ornament Box Diecut. Also I used the new thinlits sets, Everyday Tags and Labels Thinlits and Starlit Village and Card Panel Thinlits that can only be found at Scrapbook.com. All these dies and thinlits are by Eileen Hull and I love how versatile they all are. Who would have thought to use a journal diecut to create the base of the card?!? Anyways, let’s get started!

First, I placed a piece of folded cardstock slightly below the cut line of the Journal Diecut, sandwiched in-between plates and run through the Diecut Machine. The size of the slimline card is 3.5″x8.5″ for reference. I cut another piece of cardstock slightly smaller than the card base and placed the star thinlit from the Starlit Village and Card Panel Thinlits onto the cardstock and proceeded run through the diecut machine several times until it looked like a night full of stars. I adhered the star panel onto the card base.

I cut both the larger circle from the Ornament Box Diecut and the smaller circle tag from the Everyday Tags and Labels Thinlits.

I cut one large snowflake from the Wreath and Snowflake Thinlits and four small snowflakes from the Starlit Village and Card Panel Thinlits.

I glued both the larger and smaller circles to one side of the card base. Next I added the larger snowflake to the larger circle and two of the smaller snowflakes I glued together. I made sure that between both size of snowflakes that it covered the small hole that’s in the circle tag.

The other two snowflakes I glued together and placed in the upper corner on the other side of the card base. I placed a piece of an Adhesive Sheet onto the piece of cardstock and cut out the “Warm Wishes” sentiment. I also cut a piece of white cardstock slightly larger than the sentiment and placed both sentiment and cardstock beneath the snowflake.

I randomly added clear sequins onto the card to finish. This card takes no time to create and you could cut out all diecuts first and mass product all your cards at once to make the creative process go quicker.
