Eileen Hull Treasure Box Diecut: Creative Project Inspiration

Hi everyone! I’m back this week with the reveal of my first project I created using the re-released Treasure Box Diecut and the new Painterly Blooms and Background Thinlits. I also used a few dies all by Eileen Hull.

For some odd reason I didn’t do step by step photos…sorry…I guess I was in the moment of creating away. Well, anyways let’s get started!

First, I covered both sides of two pieces of Mat Board with patterned cardstock (you will have to have two of each of the dies). I placed the mat board onto the Treasure Box Diecut, and sandwiched in-between two plates and run through the Diecut Machine.

I put the box together. Side note, if you can’t figure how to put the box together Eileen Hull has lives on Facebook, YouTube and Instagram every Tuesday and Thursday. If you don’t catch the lives you can go to the replays to watch how to’s. Or you can join Eileen’s Facebook group for lots of inspiration, you can find the group HERE. Just be sure to fill out the questions to join.

Second, I punched holes with a Crop-A-Dile in the lid and the box for the hinges and clasp. Side note, I used wash tape to hold the hinges and clasp in place while marking the first set of holes. I attached the hardware with brads. I added a decorative trim to cover the pongs of the brads.

Third, I glued the feet to the bottom of the box.

Fourth, I cut flowers and leaves from the Painterly Blooms and Background Thinlits, Envelope, Folder and Flowers Thinlits, Sunflower Diecut and the Folio Page, Pocket and Flowers Thinlits. I used the middle flower from the Sunflower Diecut and the flower from the Folio Page, Pocket and FlowersThinlits to create the largest flower on top of the box.

I used the tweezers from the Stylus Kit to shape the petals of the larger flower and the largest stylus to the center of flower, including the smaller flowers, before gluing each on top of each other. I cut two leaves from the Envelope, Folder and Flowers Thinlits, shaped and adhered to the back of the flower before adding to the top of the box.

I cut several flowers and leaves from the Painterly Blooms and Background Thinlits. I shaped the flowers with a stylus to create three different types of flowers. I glued together, added leaves, gems and Pearls to the center of each flower before placing onto the box. I I finished by added lace, bows made of thread and pearl top push pins.

Family and Flowers Tag

Hi everyone! I’m back with another quick and easy tag this week. I used scraps I had laying on my desk and the Waterfall Card and Tags Thinlits by Eileen Hull and a few other dies by her as well to create this tag. So let’s get started!

First, since the cardstock I used was double sided I only cut one tag from Waterfall Card and Tags Thinlits using the largest tag thinlit. I gathered a couple of patterned scraps of cardstock and glued to the front of the tag.

Second, I had cut the envelope, three flowers, center to the flower and the smallest leaf out from the Envelope, Folder and Flowers Thinlits. I adhered the envelope together before gluing to the tag. I dug into a packet of Mini Paper Dolls and selected a family which I placed inside of the envelope.

Third, I shaped the three flowers, flower center and leaf with a Stylus. I adhered the three flowers on top of each other along with the center and the leaf to the back of the flower before gluing to the corner of the envelope.

Fourth, I dug into my stash of flowers and leaf sprigs that I had already cut out. These are from the Folio Page, Pocket and Flower Thinlits and the Shadow Box Elements Thinlits and I always try and have some extra cut out and on hand to use in projects.

I shaped the flowers and leaf sprigs with a stylus before adding around the layered flower. I finished off this side of the tag by adding Pearls to the center of the flowers, shredded cheese cloth and a bow made out of thread.

Fifth, the back side of the tag I kept simple. I used leftover printables from a tag I shared earlier, you can find that post HERE, and more scraps of cardstock. I glued the layers to the tag and added a fussy cut vine on top of the layers.

Sixth, I had this leftover button diecut that didn’t make it onto a pervious project. I had cut that from the Card Case Diecut. I tied thread through the button holes and adhered to the tag along with sequins. I finished by adding some Liquid Gloss to the leaves on the vine.

I am really excited that I’m building a nice jump ring of tags and can’t wait to create one for next week!

Chrysanthemum Slotted Box

Hi everyone! I’m back this week with another project featuring Eileen Hull’s Slotted Treat Box Diecut, Sunflower Diecut, the smaller flowers are from Everyday Tags and Labels Thinlits (only at Scrapbook.com) and the Shadow Box Elements Thinlits.

A little side story about me and the slotted treat box die. My first project, which I haven’t shared yet, because it’s Christmas related. Anyways, I had bought what I thought was mat board at Hobby Lobby. I had found it in the art supply section and was the perfect size where it could be cut down unlike the huge pieces of mat board which takes a little more effort. Fast forward I bought it got it home and covered with some of my favorite Christmas cardstock, that I had been hoarding, and on the back side I covered with Cork Cardstock when I went to run it through the Diecut Machine with the Slotted Treat Box Diecut it WOULD. NOT. CUT! It made an indention but that was it. At first I thought the diecut was defective ( insert me having a big panic attack) but I finally used a scrap of regular mat board I had and it cut. So needless to say I had to toss it.

Now back to the project at hand, the theme this month over on Eileen Hull’s blog is all about recipes. It’s not food related but technique related. So let’s get started!

Step One

I applied Adhesive Sheets to both sides of the Mat Board, then the patterned cardstock, placed onto the slotted treat box diecut and run through the diecut machine. I had to cut two sides, two of the front and back, four sides for the lid and a top and a bottom for the box.

The flaps I peeled the excess of mat board and one side of the cardstock off so once adhered together the flaps will lay “flatter” and there won’t be as much bulk.

Step Two

Next I glued all the sides to the lid and bottom of the box.

Step Three

I had hinges, brads and a handle but they were mauve and gold. Definitely not the colors I wanted to use with the box. I sprayed painted them all a brushed nickel finish. Here’s another little side note, if you have the wrong color of brads you can punch holes into a piece of chipboard, place each brad in the hole and open the pongs to secure in place while spray painting. It’s a quick and easy fix.

Step Four

I also applied Charcoal Luster Wax over the edges of the handle, brads and hinges for depth.

Step Five

I used washi tape to hold the hinges and the handle in place while marking the holes. Then I used a Crop A Dile for the holes and then installed the hinges and handle. I also added a trim on the inside of the box to cover the pongs of the brads.

Step Six

I cut out six each of the large and small size flowers and two of the centers and one leaf from the Sunflower Diecut. I shaped the large and small flowers with a Stylus.

I also cut out three small and four middle size flowers from the Everyday Tags and Labels Thinlits and shaped. The small size flowers I stacked and adhered together with the large and small flowers from the sunflower die. I also shaped the leaf with a stylus, my hand and inked before adhering to the corner of the flower. The center of the flower at first I shaped with a stylus but didn’t like so I scrunched and inked.

The four middle flowers I shaped and stacked two each together. I also cut out six of the tiny flowers from the Shadow Box Elements Thinlits and shaped all of those. I added two of those to the center of the middle size flowers. I adhered all flowers to the lid of the box and added beads, gems and buttons to the center of each flower. I also glued cording bows, lace and twigs from my yard to finish.

This box is perfect for storing things or making to give as a gift. I hope you trying to create one for your self soon.

Mum Gift Box

Hi everyone! I can’t believe next week will be Thanksgiving?! Then we hop right into all things Christmas! Yikes! Have you started decorated your homes for Christmas? I want to but haven’t dug out all my Christmas decorations…even though I really want to. Anyways, I want to share a Fall project I created for Eileen Hull (before I jump all in on Christmas) using the Geometric Box Diecut and the Sunflower Diecut. Let’s get started!

First, I cut three of each of the medium and small flowers from the Sunflower Diecut. I crinkled the flowers with my hand and then shaped the petals with tweezers and a Stylus. I adhered each one on top of each other, starting with all the medium flowers followed by the smaller flowers.

I applied Adhesive Sheets on both sides of the Mat Board along with patterned cardstock ( you will need to cut out two geometric panels and one bottom piece). I adhered the panels together and placed and glued the bottom in place.

I adhered lace around the top of the box and placed the flower with added gem to the center, leaves, cording and glittered berry sprigs to finish this project.

This project came together quickly and if you didn’t want to use it as a gift box you could place a battery operated candle inside and it would make a beautiful home decor piece.

Hey Friend Card

Hi everyone! As I’m slowly getting back into the swing of crafting, from a busy couple of months of things pertaining to family and all things summer, I want to share a card I created for Eileen Hull’s Inspiration Team! This month’s theme is cards and I used the Skinny Mini Elements Thinlits along with a few other dies, embossing folder and thinlits by Eileen. So let’s get started!

I originally was going to cover a per-cut card base with the Skinny Mini Elements Thinlit and do the usual decorating. But when I I placed the Thinlits onto the piece of glittered cardstock ( I ran the die through the machine two times) it didn’t cut through. Instead of tossing I decided I would fold in half and create a card base. I did back the inside with a piece of light pink cardstock before decorating the front.

Next I cut out the circle from the Ornament Box Diecut and embossed with the Woven Leather 3D Embossing Folder. I lightly inked over the raised areas before adhering to the card base.

I dug into my big stash of scraps and cut out flowers, wreath and leaf sprigs from the following thinlits: Wreath and Snowflake Thinlits and Folio Page, Pocket and Flowers Thinlits. I placed Foam Pop Dots onto the back of two strips of patterned cardstock and placed onto the card base.

Next I glued a piece of wood looking cardstock under the raised patterned cardstock along with the wreath die.

I shaped the flowers and leaf sprigs with a Stylus and adhered to the card base.

I added Glossy Dots to the centers of each flower. Also I printed, cut and chalked the edges of a “Hey Friend!” sentiment and placed onto the card to finish.

Summer is a State of Mind Tag

Hi everyone! I found an 8″x8″ Children’s Hour Collection Paper Pad (retired) by Graphic 45 in my stash of cardstock and I decided I would squeak out a tag before the month of June ended. So let’s get started!

I pulled the two sheets that were labeled June collection from the paper pad, cut a tag 7 7/8″x4 1/8″ from the patterned cardstock and cut a part the sentiments and images from the other sheet of cardstock.

I matted the image of the children with a patterned cardstock and added Foam Pop Dots to the back before placing onto the tag. I adhered the June calendar,, postage stamps and the sentiments to the children image and tag.

I cut out flowers and foliage from the Floral Garden Thinlits by I-crafter. I shaped the flowers and foliage with a Stylus, added gems to the center of the smaller flowers before placing onto the tag.

I glued lace and loops of thread to finish off this tag. I’ve already pulled the two July sheets of cardstock from the paper pad since July is only days away to start thinking about what I want to create…maybe another tag then again I’m not sure?

Little Home Mini Album

Hi everyone! I’m back with a quick little little album I created a couple of months ago. I had received the Shadow Box Frames Set 2 Thinlits and if you know me I can’t just make what the dies are intended to be used for. When I created this I didn’t do any step out photos because I wasn’t even sure I could make it work. I did create another album with steps last month. If you would like to take a look at that post it can be found HERE.

I used the Carousel 6″x8″ Paper Pad for the cover. As well as some of the scraps from this pad where used for the inside pages and embellishments.

I cut out four of the smaller “frames”, folded the flaps (to the inside) and glued both flaps together to create a pocket for the front and back of the cover. The larger flaps I glued together to create the spine for the mini album. I punched holes, added eyelets and strung elastic cording through the holes and tied off inside.

I decorated the cover with and assortment of thinlits and one diecut which included: Shadow Box Elements, Snail Mail, Folio Page, Pocket and Flowers and Scallop Border Movers and Shapers Diecut (retired). Also I used the scalloped die to create the “roof” for the cover of the album. I side note I did cut out several houses, flowers, vines and leaves from all the little bits of scraps of cardstock I had laying around. I figured if I didn’t use it all on this project I would eventually use it on something else.

I did cut out two tags for each cover pocket. I added a Tag reinforcer (Waterfall Card and Tag Thinlits) to the top each tag along with a bit of seam binding.

The inside pages I cut and placed under the elastic cording and proceeded to decorate with the extra houses, flowers, leaves, etc, thinlits that I had cut out a head of time.

I forgot to added I also cut several leaf sprigs from the Wreath and Snowflake Thinlits and used through album.

The Fancy Free Bee Hive

Hi everyone! I’m back this week with a extra large tag I created using the sheets of cardstocks from the June Calendar Collection (retired) by Authentique. I also used an assortment of Eileen Hull’s flowers, leaves and leaf sprig thinlits to dress up both sides of the tag. So, let’s get started!

With this June set of cardstocks, there is one patterned double sided sheet, one plain double sided sheet and one cut a part with images on one side and patterned cardstock on the other side. The first tag I cut the patterned cardstock 10 1/2″x5 1/4″ and punched a hole in the top. The second tag I cut from the plain cardstock 8 1/2″x4 1/4″ and punched a hole in the top also. I cut two of the tag reinforcers from the Waterfall Card and Tag Thinlits and adhered to the holes punched in each tag.

I placed Foam Pop Dots to the back of the plain tag and placed slightly off the larger tag. I glued midway of the smaller tag three strips of cardstock to create banners. The bee and daisy cut a part I adhered slightly off the smaller tag and arranged the two stamps and the sentiment cut a parts around the bee image.

I cut flowers, leaves and leaf sprigs from the following Thinlits: Folio Page Pocket and Flowers and Flower and Leaf Stitchlits (retired) and shaped with a Stylus, layered the flowers with leaves and added gems to the center. I finished off with loops of thread, sequins and a little bit of lace.

The other side of the tag I stacked and adhered two different patterned cardstocks slightly off center of each other along with a fairy and bee image I fussy cut. The June image I cut down and added a mat before placing on the tag along with a fussy cut image of yellow roses. I matted the “fancy-free” sentiment and placed over the fairy. The “Summer Time and the Living is Easy” sentiment I placed under the June image.

I shaped and adhered more flowers and leaves to the tag with loops of thread and a bow made from Hemp Cord to finish.

I still have more cut a parts and cardstock leftover and I’m hoping I can squeak out another tag or maybe even a card before the month is over.

Listen Up Bird Mini Album

Hi everyone! I’m back this week with another project for Eileen Hull. If you didn’t know the theme this month on her blog is Birds, Nests and Eggs and I actually was able to finish a mini album in a bird theme using the Shadow Box Frames Set 1 Thinlits. Last week I shared a Butterfly Boy Tag as a substitute project since this has been a crazy month and wasn’t sure I would be able to crank out a bird project. But I did so let’s get started.

I cut out four of the “frames” in patterned cardstock.

I folded the smallest “tab” on all the “frames” and adhered those together along with the larger tabs to the inside of the larger tab. The larger tab will become the spine of the album.

I glued the fronts and the backs of the frames together to create the front and back covers of the album.

I cut a piece of patterned cardstock the width of the spine and then “butted” the larger tabs together and adhered the strip of patterned cardstock over the tabs. Next I cut to fit and put together the Bookbinding Thinlit and glued onto the inside of the spine. I cut out a total of eight frames, cut the larger tab off of each frames, folded the smaller tab and adhered each frame together to create four pages. Those were then glued to each “hinge” on the inside of the spine.

Now for the fun! I dug into my stash of embellishments along with using the flowers, leaves and sprigs from the Folio Page Pocket and Flower, Shadow Box Elements and Wreath and Snowflakes Thinlits and decorated each page.

I used label diecuts from the Full Size Journal Diecut, Bookplate, Hinges and Label Thinlits (retired) and flowers from theShadow Box Elements Thinlits. Also I stamped the “listen up” sentiment and a label from the Making Plans Stamp Set and used an assortment of embellishments to decorate the cover.

The Wandering Butterfly Boy

Hi everyone! I can’t believe it’s already the middle of the month and this is my first post! I’ve had a lot of behind the scenes stuff going on…some good and some not so good stuff…ugh! But anyways, I created a tag using some of Eileen Hull’s new and not so new thinlits and embossing folder. Also this month theme on Eileen’s blog is Birds, Nests and Eggs and even though my butterfly boy isn’t a bird (he has wings though and that kind of counts, right?) I wanted to share. So let’s get started!

I had a sheet of gel pressed cardstock leftover from the collab with Eileen Hull and Gel Press that I cut into a tag. You can find those posts HERE and HERE. I embossed the tag with the Crochet Mandala 3D Embossing Folder, lightly inked over the raised areas with a Dark Blue Chalk Ink, added two of the “stamp” dies from the Snail Mail Thinlit, along with a strip of patterned cardstock and a circle punch which I folded around the side of the tag.

Next I rolled up and distressed two pieces of patterned cardstock and “roughing up” the edges and inked. I adhered both to the top edge of the stamp die and added loops of thread and inked up cheese cloth. I used the flowers and vine from the Shadow Box Elements, flowers and leaf sprig from the Folio Page Pocket and Flower Thinlits along with gems for the center of the flowers to decorate the “logs”. I applied an Adhesive Sheet to the back of a scrap of cardstock and cut out the word “Wonder” from the Journaling Words Thinlits (retired).

I printed (the head and body in two different sizes) and fussy cut out both along with the butterfly wings and frog. I found this printable on Etsy and it’s called The Steampunk Fairy Boys and is by itKuPiLLiimaginarium. I added Foam Pop Dots to the back before placing onto the tag. I finished off by applying Stickles to the wings, cap and buttons on the boy’s jacket.
