Vintage Girls and Flower Page

Hi everyone! I wanted to hop on today and share a page I created using stickers, scraps of cardstock and scrapbook paper I have laying around along with flowers and leave diecuts from the Floral Garden Diecuts Set…those where in my stash of scraps and leftovers.

I started with a 3 3/8″x5 3/8″ patterned cardstock as the base for my page. Next I placed a circle punch that had been embossed onto the center of the base and a sticker down the side (Apologies for the dark looking photo I really thought I had taken a better photo than that.) It’s ok that the sticker is hanging off either side of the base because I will be adhering the finished project to a page in one of the journals that I have created…I’ll share more later on which journal I will be using.

The images of the vintage girls are from a piece of wrapping paper I had started fussy cutting but didn’t finish. I finished fussy cutting those out and then I went through my stash to figure out what scraps and stickers I wanted to include on the page.

I adhered bits of cardstock, banner diecuts, heart punch and diecut images to the base. I added an assortment of patterned paper to the girl images before applying Foam Pop Dots and placing on the base.

I shaped the flowers and leaves diecuts from the Floral Garden Diecuts Set and glued to the page along with thread bows, gems in the center of the flowers and a leftover gem swirl from my stash.

I can’t wait to add this to the first page in my journal! I’m still deciding if I ought to wait and do a complete reveal of what journal I chosen to work with or share again (hint this is a journal that I posted about last year). Also I’m going to add a couple more embellishments to the cover of my journal….to me it looks bland. Let me know in the comments below share now or wait for a completed journal reveal.

As always if you have any questions about this project please let me know.

Swap-bot Vintage Swappers: March Rolodex Swap

Hi everyone! I’m finally getting around to uploading photos for this swap I was in more than a few months ago. I wanted to do a quick post and share a couple of rolodexes I created. I found these adorable bunny images over at Ephemera’s Vintage Garden blog which I knew I just had to use. When you get a chance stop by Debbie-Anne’s blog and see all the digital images she has created. Hope they inspire you to create some decorative rolodexes for yourself.

Robin’s Nest: Happy Everything Altered Toilet Paper Roll Treat Holders

Hi everyone! It has been one whirlwind of a month for me. I got married on the 13th and I guess with all the running and trying to get everything ready I wore myself down. Thus I wound up with a stomach virus the day after I got married and when we got back in town I got a terrible head cold. I am just now starting to feel better and getting back into the swing of things.
This month on the Robin’s Nest store they have their Crackle Glitter cardstock and Neon Dew Drops on sale for 20% off. Also the Robin’s Nest is teaming up with Epiphany Crafts this month. I got to to try the Scalloped Circle punch out on all the projects I created.
When I first seen the Crackle Glitter cardstock my mind was thinking on all the possible things I could create for Spring and Easter . Also I wanted to create something that could hold treats or some goodies in it too. I came up with this cute little toilet paper roll treat holder which was so easy and quick to make. Then I started envisioning different holidays I could create using toilet paper rolls and I came up with a USA/4th of July and a Fall/Thanksgiving theme also.

Robin’s Nest Supplies Used:
Blue Glitter Crackle Cardstock
Orange Glitter Crackle Cardstock
Pink Glitter Crackle Cardstock
Purple Glitter Crackle Cardstock
Neon Mini Dew Drops
Chocolate Brown Classic Glitter Cardstock
Ochre Classic Glitter Cardstock
Lavender Glitter Classic Cardstock
Red Glitter Sorbet Cardstock
Chipboard Leaves
Eggs Glitter Swirls
Alpha Sticker Letters
Bird Stickers
Other Supplies Used:
Sizzix SU Bigz XL Tasteful Trim
Lace
Prima Flowers
Buttons
Hemp Cord
Mod Podge
Gesso
Taffy Folk Art Paint
Epiphany Crafts:
Scallop Punch and Bubble Caps Clear Scalloped Circle 25

First off you will need three empty toilet paper rolls for these projects. I painted the inside of each of the rolls and let them dry. I used Mod Podge and coated the inside generously and then I used a big binder clip and pinched the bottom of the tube closed with it. Let the roll dry real well before you remove the binder clip.

Now I’m are ready to decorate. Measure the TP roll and cut a piece of Pink Glitter Crackle cardstock to cover and then Mod Podge to roll. I then cut a 2 inch strip of lime green polk a dot tissue paper and then folded in half to give me a 1 inch strip. I glued one strip at a time to the inside of the roll and cut to make fringe. I did this four times to make it look full and fluffy. Then I cut various sizes of cardstock and adhere to the top. I added a butterfly image to the front and then I used one of the Epiphany Crafts Clear Scalloped Circle 25 and stuck over the butterfly for added interest.

Now I added fringe to the bottom of the tube. I used the same steps as above but only added two rows of fringe. I used a piece of the Purple Glitter Crackle cardstock and Sizzix Tasteful Trim die to cut out the oval looking trim which I glued over the edge of the tissue fridge I had created at the bottom of the TP roll. Then I added the cute Neon Mini Dew Drops to the center of each oval. I punch small holes on each side of the roll and threaded lace through the whole and tied off.

Second TP roll I followed prep instruction as listed above. I used Orange Glitter Crackle cardstock to cover the outside of the roll and cut a strip of Ochre Glitter cardstock and the Chocolate Brown Glitter cardstock I used my Tasteful Trim die again and cut out another piece of oval trim. I used the Orange Neon Mini Dew Drops to decorate the center of each of the oval trim. I then took the Chipboard leaves and crumpled them with my hand and then inked the edges to give it a distressed look, shaped and glued to the corner of the roll. I added a few Prima flowers and buttons to the centers and then topped each off with Neon Mini Dew Drops. In the bottom corner I used a acorn sticker strip from the Bird Stickers and cut a “v” out of it to make a banner. Punched a scallop image with the Epiphany Craft punch and add a “T” alpha sticker over the acorn sticker. I punch small holes in each side of the roll and thread hemp cord and tie off.

The last TP roll I used the same prep directions as above and glued the Blue Glitter Crackle cardstock around the tube. The Tasteful Trim die I cut a scalloped trim from the Red Glitter Sorbet cardstock and then adhered blue Neon Mini Dew Drops to each scalloped circle. I cut trim, lace and scrap of cardstock and then glued around the roll. I fussy cut a vintage 4th of July image out and attached to the corner.

For the handle I actually used some Christmas Trim a Tree rusty stars trim I had picked up for another craft project. I Mod Podge, let dry, punched small holes on each side  of tube and attached. Then I added Neon Mini blue Dew Drops to the center to each star.
The USA charm I created I used a bottle cap which I first painted with Gesso and let dry. Then paint with Taffy Folk Art paint. Let dry. First I punched a whole in the rim of the bottle cap and then I used the backside of the Blue Glitter Crackle cardstock which is a solid blue and punched out a scalloped circle, added bits of scraps of patterned cardstock and the typed USA to the top of the scallop. Then I put the Clear Scalloped Circle over the top of that and then I adhered it inside of the bottle cap. I snipped a star from the Trim a Tree trim and threaded it through the hole. Twisted the leftover wire to keep it from fall off and then curled and added a neon dew drop.  I used Tim Holtz Mini Paper Rosettes die and cut a rosette out in white cardstock and adhered to the corner of the roll and then glued the bottle cap on top of that. The bottle cap I had a lot of fun creating and I plan on making more in the future. I think that they would make some great charms. 🙂
Well there you have it!!! Toilet paper roll treat holders that are quick to make and super cute! I just want to remind you to stop on over at the Chattering Robin’s blog and see what everyone else is creating and remember that there is 20% off on the Crackle cardstock and Neon Mini Dew Drops in the Robin’s Nest store.

Again thanks for stopping by and I hope this inspires you to create something fun for yourself and remember to enjoying creating!!! 🙂

Air Mail Art Journal Page

Hi everyone! I’m just dropping by for a “quick share” of another art journal page I created. I’m still using up stickers from The Robin’s Nest Stamp Tag Kit…stamp, post mark and circles…and I also used from my Robin’s Nest stash white alphabet stickers which I inked with Versa Magic Aloe Vera Chalk Ink.

I used Tattered Angels Vintage Seasons Timeless Romance wings stamp to make the stamp look like it was flying and Fancy Pants Delights circle stamps on top of the circle stickers to add some extra interest.

I raided my scrap bin of scrapbook paper and also included a piece of a dictionary page and a page from a book on roses to finish off this page.

I hope your day is wonderful and thanks so much for stopping by. As always I hope this inspires you to create something fun!!!

This and That Paperbag Album

The inspiration for this little mini paperbag album comes from a vintage doll head charm from art.i.cake by Amy Labbe that I bought at Michaels. Even though it cost a little bit more than what I would normally spend on charms I knew I had to have it.

I used a 6×6 pad of Echo Park’s This and That Graceful paper collection.

The whole mini came together perfectly. I used lace, buttons, ribbon, velvet ric rac, Prima and Making Memories flowers, Crafty Secrets butterfly image, The Robin’s Nest Dew Drops, buttons, baker’s twine and a Li’l Davis Designs bookplate.

The inside of this mini there is plenty of room to journal and add photos with the two tags that can be pulled out on the inside cover and on the opposite page there is a tag that is folded into thirds which gives you six places (front and back) to add your thoughts or little mementos.

The doll head stamp that I used for the mini page is by Pink Persimmons and the little butterfly stamp is by Christy Tomlinson and I used part of a paper doily I had in my stash. 🙂

A close up view…I used some of my own blush makeup for her cheeks since I couldn’t find my chalk pastels. I think it turned out nice. 🙂 Plus the little striped yellow and white scrapbook paper is actually a tag that can be pulled out from behind the doll head.

The handmade pocket is made from a old book which I received in a tag swap. I also used a old ticket stub as a tab for one of the tag inserts.

The last pages with more tags.

A inside closeup of crafty goodness 🙂

I hope you have enjoyed this little mini as much as I enjoyed creating it. Thanks for stopping by and looking and enjoy creating!!!

Crafty Card Gallery DT and a Art Journal Page Thrown in too

I would have shared this sooner but have been under the weather this week. I do now feel a lot better. First I would like to share some super fun news…drum rolls please… I made the Crafty Card Gallery Design Team…I’m doing the happy dance. Me along with 17 other super talented crafty folks were selected to Jennifer Restivo’s inaugural design team.

If you get a chance please go check out the blog and see just how creative everyone is.

Also I would like to share a quick photo of a page out of my art journal I had worked on. This page is actually made out of a toilet paper roll. First I flattened the roll, used a bone folder to get sharp edges on the roll. The front I wanted to share my cousin Lorie’s birthday. I used scrap’s of scrapbook paper, heart button embellishment, baker’s twine, stamped July the 4th and finally used some left over Crafty Secrets images.

On the other side, which I had a total blast creating, I used scraps of scrapbook paper, eyelet, Prima flower with a brad in the center, Prima wings, Martha Stewart crown punch with a button in the center, the baby is a leftover Crafty Secrets image that half of the body had been cut away. So to cover up this obvious flaw I made a “nest” out packing paper…I think it turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself…***smiles***…and last but not least I used some Pink Paislee stickers for the date.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope this inspires you to create something fun!!!
Enjoy creating!!!
