How to Make a Diecut Holder with the Frame Pocket Journal Diecut

Hi everyone! I’m back with the full reveal of the sneak peek I shared last week for Eileen Hull’s Chapter One Release Party. Details from that release can be found on Eileen’s blog HERE with a video showing all of the teams projects. Instead of going the normal route and creating a journal with the Scoreboards Frame Pocket Journal Diecut I noted that this die would make a nice holder for thinlits, 6″x6″ or 6″x8″ paper pads. So let’s get started!

I applied Adhesive Sheets to both sides of Chipboard and placed patterned cardstock into the chipboard. I cut two covers and two side panels from the Scoreboards Frame Pocket Diecut. I folded the “spine” of both covers and the flaps of the panels. I “peeled”some of the chipboard from the flaps off (this helps the flaps to lay flatter) before adhering to each side of the journal. Since the “bottom” of the holder doesn’t butt up against each other I measured and cut a piece of chipboard and another piece of patterned cardstock and glued to the bottom inside. This adds re-enforcement to the bottom if added weight such as thinlits or paper pads are placed inside.

To decorate the outside of the holder I pulled a decorative chipboard shape from my stash and placed into the Tablecloth 3D Embossing Folder and run through the Diecut Machine. I lightly inked over the embossed area with a tan chalk ink. I used the “closure” from the Full Size Journal Diecut as a label. I adhered both to the front of the holder. I placed an adhesive sheet onto a piece of cardstock and cut out the letters to spell “Eileen” from the Alphanumeric Thinlit and placed onto the label. I cut, shaped and put together flowers, leaves and vines from the following thinlits: Folio Page Pocket and Flowers and Shadow Box Elements Thinlits.

I added gems to the center of each flowers and adhered to onto the label along with leaves, vines and a butterfly that I had fussy cut from a patterned piece of cardstock.

I glued decorative “feet’ to the bottom of the holder to finish. It’s perfect to hold ALL the Eileen Hull thinlits so they are all in one place.

Eileen Hull Chapter One Release 2023 Style!

Hi everyone and Happy New Year! It’s time again for a new release by Eileen Hull and I’m super excited about it. There’s so many possibilities with this collection and, of course, with my project I didn’t use the diecut the way it was original suppose to be used. I’m only sharing a tease and will post a full reveal later on in the month. So let’s get started!

Let’s start with the ScoreBoards Frame Pocket Journal– this is a Bigz Plus die so you will need a 9” cutting machine. The Journal measures 4 1/2” x 6 1/2” x 1 1/4” with an adjustable spine. What makes this die special are the additional pieces on the die, a pocket to hold ephemera, a frame and flap! These extra pieces may be used in many of my other journals or they can be used independently. The die may also be configured in a few different ways so watch the blog and Facebook live shows for ideas.

There are two Thinlits sets that coordinate with the Journal. You asked for a new alphabet- you got it- and I added numbers too! The Tile Alphanumeric is very versatile because you can use both the positive and negative shapes. Each letter is perforated which makes it easy to create and line up words.

The other Thinlits set is the Library Pocket, ATC Card and Tab Thinlits– a journal essential! Use the ATC card die to knock out a bunch of Artist Trading Card bases and add the library pocket to package it up to swap. The Tab die is perfect to add to the Journal pages or on the ATC.

The last item is a 3D embossing folder called Tablecloth which was inspired by a crocheted cotton piece from my Mom. This adds beautiful texture and dimension to card backgrounds, book pages or tags!

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer Gift Card Post Box

Hi everyone! How is your holiday season going? Are you finished shopping, got presents wrapped, tree up and decorated? Me? Nope, only a few presents are wrapped and I still need to put ribbon and bows on the packages. YIKES! This will probably be my last post this week so I can catch up on everything that I need to do around the house and be ready for Christmas…I feel the walls closing in on me…also I have projects that needs to be worked on for Eileen Hull’s Chapter 1 2023 Release…can you believe that 2023 is right around the corner? I can’t!

Anyways, I found this project in my stash of unfinished projects. I had painted and put it together but that is as far as I got with it. I used Eileen Hull’s Post Box Diecut, the lid used from the Book and Pages, Trinket Box and Frame Diecut (retired), Ornament Box Diecut, Wreath and Snowflake Thinlits along with a couple other dies. So let’s get started and finish this project!

I had painted this Post Box Diecut on both sides and once dry I adhered together. I had also painted the frame/lid from the Book and Pages, Trinket Box and Frame Diecut (retired)and glued that to the back of the box. I used a Mod Podge to seal the whole box and then I lightly inked over it to give it an aged look.

I cut a piece of patterned cardstock to fit around the box which I folded and glued the ends together to create a belly band.

I cut a circle out of patterned cardstock from the Ornament Box Diecut and three wreath from the Wreath and Snowflake Thinlits. I adhered all three wreaths to the circle before gluing all to the belly band.

I applied a piece of an Adhesive Sheet to the back of a piece Surfaces Cork Roll and placed a deer thinlit from the Darling Deer Thinlits onto the cork paper and run through the Diecut Machine. I inked the deer with a couple of chalk inks.

I applied the deer to the center of the belly band and a tiny gem to its nose. I cut the Merry Christmas sentiment from a piece of cardstock and added to the circle.

I finished by adding a seal punch to the top of box and two holly thinlits from the Doodle Christmas Thinlits and three gems to finish this project.

It’s a perfect to hold a gift card and some candy or a tiny trinket. What would you put inside it?

Let’s Make a Snowman Card with the Skinny Mini Book Box Diecut

Hi everyone! I’m back today with card I created using my very own Sparkles Snowman Happy Holidays Stamp Set. You can find it over at Blank Page Muse HERE. It’s still a pinch me moment that I actually have a stamp set! I also used the Skinny Mini Book Box and a few other thinlits, embossing folder and etc. which I’ll share as I get more into making this card. Let’s get started!

First off, I folded a piece of cardstock in half and placed slightly below the cut line on the Skinny Mini Book Box and run through the Diecut Machine.

I used several scraps of plain and patterned cardstock and adhered to the front of the card base. I cut a strip of cardstock and placed into the 3D Crochet Mandala Embossing Folder and run through the diecut machine. I lightly inked over the raised edges before gluing to the card base.

I placed the snowman face and sentiment onto the MISTI Stamping Tool, inked with Black Ink and stamped onto a piece Watercolor Paper and cut out both.

I watercolored the snowman and once dry added Stickles to the image.

Next I matted the snowman image before adding to the card base and placed a White Diamond Dotz on each eye.

I cut out several snowflakes from the following thinlits and diecut: Wreath and Snowflake Thinlits, Doodle Christmas Thinlits and 3D Impresslits Snowflake Diecut (retired). I added one snowflake to the base before gluing the matted snowman on top of that.

I layered two of the snowflakes, added Foam Pop Dots to the backs of two and placed onto the base. I glued the smaller snowflake directly to the base, added gems to the center of each one.

I finished by matting the sentiment and adhering underneath the snowman image and adding loops of metallic to the snowflakes.

My Three Favorite 2022 Eileen Hull Projects

Hi everyone! I’m back with another blog post and today I share my top three favorite Eileen Hull projects of 2022. I did have a hard time narrowing it down. But after going back and forth with the eight posts I selected I did finally picked the three that I loved the most. Let’s get started!

These are in no particular order, but I love a good recycle/up-cycle project and this project checked all the boxes for me. I used an empty Laughing Cow Cheese container and the Vintage Buttons 3D Embossing Folder and the Mandala Thinlit as the bases for this home decor piece. You can find this post HERE.

The next project is another home decor piece and I loved the fact I got to incorporate the Shadow Box Frames Set 2 Thinlits, Skinny Mini Elements Thinlit and the Sunflower Diecut to create this. You can find that post HERE.

The last project is another recycle/up-cycle project that I used an empty ribbon spool as a base and used a wide assortment of dies and thinlits such as the Ornament Box Diecut, Wreath and Snowflake Thinlits, Vintage Truck Box Diecut, Shadow Box Frames Set 2 Thinlits and Shadow Box Elements Thinlits. A Beary Merry Christmas Cork Journal

Hi everyone! I’m super excited to share this project with y’all. Eileen Hull’s teams were sent a package of Surfaces Cork Roll from Sizzix to create something using Eileen’s dies, thinlits and embossing folders. I used the Notepad Diecut, Wreath and Snowflake Thinlits, the label from the Card Caddy Diecut and the hinge from the Treasure Box Diecut (retired) along with some other thinlits and embossing folders from Olivia Rose and Tim Holtz. Let’s get started!

First, I gathered up all my supplies before starting.

I applied Adhesive Sheets to both side of a piece of Mat Board, cut the cork and a piece of cardstock to fit the mat board. Next I placed the diecut onto the mat board and run through the Diecut Machine. I cut the cover twice.

I placed the journal cover into the 3D Tree Rings Embossing Folder but could not get it to run through the diecut machine, which sent me into a mini panic. But after much tinkering I used two sets of cutting plates and a crease pad to emboss both covers.

I peeled the cork and mat board away from one of the tabs on the spine.

This will make the spine have a “flat” look once it is glued together.

I used a combination of chalk inks on the cover and I also applied with my finger Rose Gold Luster Wax in random spots.

I picked three different shades of green from the Surfacez Eclectic Color Collection and cut three wreaths from the Wreath and Snowflake Thinlits. I cut two “open” and wove them through the wreath that I didn’t cut and adhered to the cover.

From the same paper collection I cut out all the parts for the bear from the Doodle Christmas Thinlits and used a combo of adhesive sheets and adhesive to piece together.

I lightly inked over parts of the bear and adhered to the cover.

I punched two holes in the top and bottom of the spine with a Crop-A-Dile and set eyelets into each hole before stringing elastic cording through the holes and tying off.

I covered with cardstock a label from the Card Caddy Diecut and the hinge from the Treasure Box Diecut and adhered on top of each other before gluing to the spine.

For the booklets inside the journal I had an A6 plain planner notebook but it was too tall. No problem!

I measured and cut the notebook in half (2 7/8″) and I also added a bit of glue to the stitches on each end of each book to keep it from coming undone.

I covered each book with a festive Christmas cardstock and added a present and a tree from the Doodle Christmas Thinlits and seals from the Prize Ribbons Diecut (retired) onto each book.

I’m not sure if I’ll make a December Daily out of this or use as glue book? What would you use it as?

December 25th Caddy Box

Hi everyone! I’m back today with a box I created as a companion piece for the Jolly Old St. Nicholas Notepad I shared yesterday. You can find that post HERE. I used Eileen Hull’s Card Caddy Diecut along with a couple of other dies/thinlits. So let’s get started!

First, I applied Adhesive Sheets to both sides of a piece of Mat Board and placed patterned cardstock to both sides before cutting out one box and two sides.

To make the sides lay flush on the inside of the box I “peeled” the mat board from the tabs.

I adhered the bottom tab on the side panels to each side of the box.

Next I added adhesive to each of the longer tabs and glued each side of the box into place.

Now for the fun part…adding embellishments! I cut and intertwined two wreaths from the Wreath and Snowflake Thinlits along with raiding my stash of Christmas ephemera and embellishments and decorated one side of the caddy.

I also added a Santa that I had fussy cut from scrapbook paper (I did the same for the notepad) and glued the word “Christmas” to the label that’s included with the Caddy Card Diecut and a poinsettia to finish.

The notepad fits perfectly inside the box! Also as a side note you can create a journal from the Caddy Card Box. Maybe one day I will get around to making one?

Happy Holidays Poinsettia Cards

Hi everyone and Happy first day of December! I want to share a couple of cards I created using leftover scraps and cardstock from Blank Page Muse by Pam Bray’s Tattered and Worn 6″x6″ Paper Pad. Let’s get started!

For the first card I folded the black and white dotted cardstock from the Tattered and Worn Paper Pad in half to create a 3″x6″ card base. I cut a 7/8″x6″(scrap of green cardstock from the Cyan Consortium 6″x6″ Paper Pad) and a 3/4″x6″ patterned cardstock and adhered to the card base.

Next, I punched out a circle from patterned cardstock, inked around the circle and placed glue in the center of the circle before placing onto the card base.

I cut out four poinsettias from Watercolor Paper and holly from Green Cardstock from a Christmas set of thinlits by Momenta. I lightly inked over the edges of all the flowers and holly, three of those flowers and the rest of the holly will be used on the next card. I glued the holly to the back of the poinsettia before placing in the center of the circle.

I placed three gold gems in the center of the flower, added Foam Pop Dots to the back of a Happy Holidays sentiment before placing onto the card base. Lastly I added loops of gold thread under the circle to finish this card.

The second card I did the same steps with the same cardstock from the Worn and Tattered Paper Pad to create a card base. I cut a patterned piece of cardstock 1/2″x6″ and adhered to the card base.

I glued the holly to the back of each poinsettia, added gold gems to the center of each along with loops of gold thread before placing onto the card base. I finished off by adding foam pop dots to the back of the sentiment before placing underneath the poinsettias.

My plan is to share a project everyday for the next 24 or 25 days…fingers crossed. That being said please stop back by the blog tomorrow for another Christmas inspired project!

Mum Gift Box

Hi everyone! I can’t believe next week will be Thanksgiving?! Then we hop right into all things Christmas! Yikes! Have you started decorated your homes for Christmas? I want to but haven’t dug out all my Christmas decorations…even though I really want to. Anyways, I want to share a Fall project I created for Eileen Hull (before I jump all in on Christmas) using the Geometric Box Diecut and the Sunflower Diecut. Let’s get started!

First, I cut three of each of the medium and small flowers from the Sunflower Diecut. I crinkled the flowers with my hand and then shaped the petals with tweezers and a Stylus. I adhered each one on top of each other, starting with all the medium flowers followed by the smaller flowers.

I applied Adhesive Sheets on both sides of the Mat Board along with patterned cardstock ( you will need to cut out two geometric panels and one bottom piece). I adhered the panels together and placed and glued the bottom in place.

I adhered lace around the top of the box and placed the flower with added gem to the center, leaves, cording and glittered berry sprigs to finish this project.

This project came together quickly and if you didn’t want to use it as a gift box you could place a battery operated candle inside and it would make a beautiful home decor piece.
