Dragon’sLair Den: The Witch in the Moon

Hi everyone! It’s me, Tonya and I’m here to share my project for this month using the¬†Trick or Treat Collection from the Dragon’s Lair Den. I altered a 4 oz can to hold a special treat. ūüôā

From the Trick or Treat Collection Paper Pack I choose the “purple witch” image which I set my printer on the #10 business envelope setting and printed onto a sheet of white cardstock. I trimmed to fit and ¬†then adhered to the can. I added Diamond Dew Drops to the bottom and lace to the top of the can.

Next I printed Trick or Treat Journaling Cards and fussy cut the witch out which I added a little chalk pastels to her and then lightly outlined her with a sharpie. I added Crystal Stickles to the moon. I set that aside to dry. Next I cut a piece of burlap ribbon to fit a mini October desk top calendar which I adhered to the top of the ribbon, added some bling to two of the edges and glued one corner to the can. The scrap leftover from fussy cutting the witch out I punch three leaves that I crumpled up , inked and adhered to the can along with the witch image. I finished off with sequin, dew drop and cording to make this spooky cute treat holder.

Cut a piece of¬†Honeycomb Daisy Glitter Cardstock¬†to¬†5 1/4″X 5 1/4″ and adhere to the base of the card. Next cut eight banners in various sizes and adhere to the side of the card. Top off with two buttons and some hemp twine. Cut the following pieces of ¬†cardstock by: 4 1/2″X4 3/8″, 4″X4 1/8″ (crumple and use edge punch on one side) and 3″X3 3/4″ (Emboss with¬†the Swirl embossing folder). Ink all edges, adhere together and add pop dots before gluing to card. Make three sets of hemp bows and adhere to the underneath side of the mats. Fussy cut¬†digis leaves out, add a touch of Stickles and glue to the card. Use a¬†piece small cream colored cardstock and add rub-on and glue to card.

Enjoying a Dog Gone Good Day

Hi everyone! I created a card for my son’s girlfriend. Her birthday was yesterday and we won’t be getting together until later on but I just had to share. ūüôā
She fosters dogs until she can find a forever home so I thought I would do something in a dog theme for her.
I cut a 6″x6″ piece of striped cardstock for the front of the card, cut a 5 1/2″x5 1/2″ piece of¬†Gold and Pink Daisy Glitter Cardstock, inked the edges and then adhered to the base. Next I printed out the dog¬†digi image and fussy cut it out, stamped the “enjoy” sentiment on a scrap of white cardstock and then I glued cut frames of cardstock for the sentiment and dog image, adhered each to the frame and then to the base. I¬†finished off with punched flowers which I shaped, butterfly, ribbon, baker’s twine and dew drops.

The easel I cut a 6″x 11″ piece of cardstock and folded at 4″, 4″, 1″, 1″, 1″ and I glued the 1″ flap to the back of the 4″ flap to create an easel. I cut from the leftover cardstock a pocket which I added glue to three of the sides and¬†placed on the back of the easel. Next I adhered the¬†card base to the easel and waaa-laaa! I simply and fun card! ūüôā

Time Captured

Hi everyone! I’m back to share a project using the Lodge Collection from the Robin’s Nest.¬†It is new and I simply love this collection!!! I can definitely see it being used for outdoor or Christmas themed projects in my future. ūüôā
For this project I used two empty snus tins that my son (I dislike that my son uses this stuff…insert motherly frowning face) was going to throw away and crafty person that I am knew I could alter them and turn them into something fun and this is what I came up with.

First off you will need the bottoms from both of the tins.

I used a fine tip black Sharpie to mark the holes on the tin by using the hinge as a pattern. Next I used the bottle cap hole punch to punch holes in the tin.

I made sure the hinge worked and brads would fit through the holes of the tin.

I gessoed both tins, let dry and then painted with Folk Art Tapioca acrylic paint and once that dried I used Vintage Photo Distress Crackle Paint over the top of that.

Next I cut two 7 inch pieces of Natural Twine and adhered middle way on each side of the tin.

Next I cut a small piece of Forest Tree Specialty paper and a strip of Mens Plaid/Compass Cardstock which I folded to give it a¬†pleated look. Also both of these paper/cardstock are double side which means you get more bang for your buck. ūüôā

From the Lodge CutOuts Cardstock I cut one of the cards that has a clock on it. I roughed it up and inked the edges. I had this old watch that the paint was coming off around the edges ¬†and didn’t work any more so I wound up adding just a little copper stain to it to add a vintage feel to it. I punched a circle from the¬†Mens Plaid/Compass Cardstock¬†and added beads and Beaches Dew/Tear Drops¬†inside the watch face and adhered to the corner of the cutout.

I adhered the circle over the back of the watch and once dry I adhered the whole thing to the top of the tin.

To finish out the front I used a¬†dew drop,¬†sequin, buttons, ribbon,¬†verbiage¬†from Cassi’s Creations. I also punched two leaves from the Wrap Glitter Cardstock¬†and inked and crumpled before adhering to the corner of the watch face.

Side view of tin with hinge.

Side view with Natural Twine used as a closure.

I cut two pieces of¬†Mens Plaid/Compass Cardstock¬†to fit the inside of the tin which I inked and the adhered to the inside. I didn’t like the way it looked and I decided to add¬†Natural Twine¬†around the edges. To finish it off and cover the ends of the twine I punched out more leaves from the¬†Wrap Glitter Cardstock¬†and adhered to the corners and then topped off with an acorn button and a mini pine cone that I had received from a swap.

This could either be used as a tiny trinket holder or you could add some mini photos inside.
Since I have two lids leftover from these¬†snus tins I wonder what I create with them??? Be sure to check back in the future and see what I create with these. ūüėČ

"Cat-titude"

Hi everyone! I’m here to share a mini album I created out of coffee filters using the Special Delivery Collection from the Robin’s Nest which is 20% off this month and we are cross promoting with EC crafts.¬†

The mini I created isn’t the typical baby mini album. I made this with my cat, Omega in mind‚Ķthus, the title “Cat-titude” meaning cat with attitude. ūüôā
I started with four coffee filters as the base for my mini album.

I traced the filters onto the Special Delivery Cardstock and the Pink Rose on Green Cardstock and then cut out and inked the edges. Here is a tip‚Ķline up your words and stripes before you trace and cut out or you might have your words upside down or your stripes going in a weird way. ūüôā

Next I used my Bind it All to punch holes in the pages and then cinch the 3/4″ O-wire.

This is what the mini will look like once the O-wires are added.

Next I “speckled” the cover and pages with a marker spritzer (I got this several years ago from Stampin Up) and Frayed Burlap Distress Marker to give the pages a bit of “well loved” look.

These two pages I kept pretty simple. I used a chipboard baby bottle from Gina’s Design which I painted. The other page I used the backside of the Forest Trees Specialty Paper to matt the photo of Momma cat and kittens.
I actually got to see these kittens be born. I really wished I had taken photos when this happened but at the time I had not planned on keeping any of them. The momma cat, Miss Bonkers had followed me ¬†around all day and wouldn’t let me out of her sight. Well, when she finally went into labor and had all of them it was 2:00 in the¬†morning. Omega was the last kitten to be born and was half of the size of the other three kittens. Omega meaning last is how she got her name since she was the last to be born. ūüôā

I used from the new Lodge Collection the Birch Tree Paper Straws which I inked with and brown chalk ink and then I punched leaves from Wrap Glitter Cardstock, shaped and adhered to the side of the paper straw. I topped it off with a button and dew drop.
The other page I cut from the Lodge Cut Outs Cardstock the trees and inked the edges and adhered to the page…letting some of it hang off the side of the page. I added to the top of the photo The View sticker which is from the Outdoors Stickers set. I punched two leaves and shaped and topped off with a button, sequin and dew drop.

This is one of my favorite photos of Omega way up in a tree just laying there. She always got chased up a tree by my other cat, Cotton.

I cut from the Pink Glitter Cardstock four scalloped ovals from the Spellbinders Grand Scalloped Ovals diecuts and embossed all with the Flowers and Leaves embossing folder from EC crafts. I plan on adding more photos and finishing my journaling to these pullouts later on.

¬†I cut a matt from the¬†Forest Trees Specialty Paper¬†and adhered a photo of my husband and Omega to it. My hubby was already asleep when Omega got in his lap and went to sleep never waking my hubby. ūüôā Next¬†I printed and cut out from the Collage and Charm Words Mix Media Altered Art digital sheet “sweet dream” and adhered above.¬†
The “loved” photo is one from my¬†Instagram account. I used a wooden photo frame that I had received in a swap and added three pearl dew drops from Crimson Mini Dew Drops¬†to top it off. I had a leftover Valentine Hearts cardstock¬†that I cut a scallop diecut from and a scrap leftover¬†from a¬†heart cutout that I adhered to the page.

The back cover of the mini along with ribbon, fiber and charms that I added to the O-wire.

The front was major fun to do. Since I had scraps from past DT projects I used those and a script cutout from the¬†Lodge Cut Outs Cardstock,¬†Forest Trees Specialty Paper, dew drops, bling, decorative frame and doily from¬†Gina’s Designs¬†and a sticker of a vintage cat ¬†that I had bought years ago that I thought would look perfect on the front.

Garden Bunny Basket

Hi everyone! First off I would like to welcome you to the Robin’s Nest Garden Blog Hop! Second off please make sure to stop by each of the blogs and leave a comment, follow each blog and follow our FB page. ¬†We are giving away a prize on each blog. ¬†It is a $15 butterfly kit full of Robin’s Nest butterfly products, perfect for the garden.¬†ūüôā
Now I would like to share a quick project that is originally something that you would use to start plants in your garden with. When I went to Lowes I found two sizes of peat pots but I went with the larger size I figured it was the prefect size to alter and create an adorable basket.

I had very little Caribbean Blue acrylic paint leftover from another project so I mixed that paint with white and painted the peat pot. I let dry and then I used Antique Mod Podge to seal it.
I punched holes on either side of the pot and I run an iridescent pipe cleaner through each hole to make the handle. I adhered half of a doily and ric rac around the top of the pot. I created a banner and a rosette and glued on top of the doily. Next I fussy cut from the Vintage Easter Greetings  sheet a bunny. I punched a circle from the Moss Green Glitter Cardstock and adhered on top of the banner and rosette.

I cut four flowers from the Pink Glitter Cardstock using the Flower #3 die and I used green scraps of cardstock to cut the leaves out. I used a stylus to give the flower petals and leaves shape. Then I adhered together and added buttons, sequins and a Pearl Dew Drop (Crimson Mini Dew Drops). I glued it to the side of the handle.

That’s a pretty easy project, huh??? Now all I have to do is add some more goodies. ūüôā

Supplies Used:
Caribbean Blue and White acrylic paint

5″ Peat Pot
Iridescent pipe cleaner
Antique Mod Podge
Buttons
Sequin
Bottle Cap Hole Punch
Ric Rac
Paper Doily

Crafty Card Gallery DT and a Art Journal Page Thrown in too

I would have shared this sooner but have been under the weather this week. I do now¬†feel a lot better. First I would like to share some super¬†fun news…drum rolls please… I made the Crafty Card Gallery Design Team…I’m doing the¬†happy dance. Me along with 17 other super talented crafty folks were selected to Jennifer Restivo’s inaugural design team.

If you get a chance please go check out the blog and see just how creative everyone is.

Also I would like to share a quick photo of a page out of my art journal I had¬†worked on. This page is actually made out of a toilet paper roll. First¬†I flattened the roll, used a bone folder to get sharp edges on the roll. The front I wanted to share my cousin Lorie’s birthday. I used scrap’s of scrapbook paper, heart button embellishment, baker’s twine, stamped July the 4th and finally used some left over Crafty Secrets images.

On the other side, which I had a total blast creating, I used scraps of¬†scrapbook paper, eyelet, Prima flower with¬†a brad in the center, Prima wings, Martha Stewart crown punch with a button in the center, the baby is a leftover Crafty Secrets image that¬†half of the body had been cut away. So to cover up this obvious flaw I made a “nest” out packing paper…I think it turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself…***smiles***…and last but not least I used some Pink Paislee stickers for the date.¬†¬†

Thanks for stopping by and I hope this inspires you to create something fun!!!
Enjoy creating!!!
