The Robin’s Nest Masquerade Contest and Owl Mask Project

Hi everyone! I here to share a video…yes…I said video of a mask I created for the Robin Nest Masquerade Contest that is going on until November 15th. It took five tries before I got the video right. My cat Omega decided she wanted to be a part of the video…not once but twice (insert paws walking across the front of my project). At the time it wasn’t funny but after playing those videos back I got a good chuckle.
Watch the video below for all the details on how you can win a gift certificate to the Robin’s Nest Store.

Also here is the link to the owl mask and I hope you enjoyed the video. If you have any questions please let me know. Thanks for stopping by!!! I hope that this inspires you to create something fun and I hope your Monday be awesome!!!

Steampunked Owl Container

Hi everyone! I would like to share with you a super easy project I created for The Robin’s Nest using some of the Hot Flame Line which is on sale this month for 20% off over at their store

Also The Robin’s Nest this month has teamed up with Love Bug Creations in which The design team get to use their Rupple Ribbons which is sooooo vivid and fun to use!!!
I had a empty Crystal Light container that I wanted to use for my project and when I first seen the Hot Flame Line the first thing that crossed my mind was motorcycles, racing and barbecue. I knew I wanted to do something different but I didn’t know what.

First I decided I was going to add a “wash” to the Damask Black and White cardstock. I mixed Ceramcoat Green Tea paint and water together and then sponged painted the cardstock. Rub the excess paint off of the black Damask then heat emboss the cardstock to dry it. Once dry spritz with Perfect Pearls Mists Sour Apple Spray and dry again. Now it has a metal shimmery look to the paper. Next cut Black Classic Glitter Cardstock to fit and adhere to the container. Cut the Damask Black and White cardstock 4 inches high and then to fit around the container, center between the Black Classic Glitter Cardstock and adhere.

Next cut from the Plum Watercolor cardstock a Frame Back, Ornate Die and emboss with Fleur De Lis Embossing Folder and adhere to the container. Glue the black mini pom pom trim around the top and bottom of container.

Well, after studying the Mango Flame Thermal Icing cardstock I thought the flames kinda looked like little wings and after much thought I decided to free hand a owl on the cardstock. Next I used the Scalloped Oval and cut two ovals from the leftover Damask Black and White. One I used for the stomach of the owl and the other for the top of the container. Next I cut another Scalloped oval from the Kiwi Glitter Sobert which I cut in half to look like wings. I spritzed with the Sour Apple spray. Next cut a small triangle shaped piece of cardstock for the beak and adhere it to the owl along with the “eyes”.

Next make a small bow using the Rupple Ribbon Green Grass. Adhere it to the side of the container. Add buttons to the center of the bow. Punch leaves from the Chili and Mango Flame cardstock, crumple up and then glue behind the buttons and ribbon.

Supplies Used:
Damask Black and White
Mango Flame Thermal Icing
Mango Flame Border
Chili Flame Border
Black Classic Glitter Cardstock
Kiwi Glitter Sorbert Cardstock
Winter Retreat Dew Drops
Plum Watercolor
Love Bug Creations Rupple Ribbon Green Grass
Sizzix Frame Back, Ornate #3
Cuttlebug Fleur De Lis Embossing Folder
Spellbinders Classic Scalloped Ovals Large
Black Mini Pom Pom Trim

I hope this little project has inspired you to create something for yourself or as a gift for someone. Be sure to stop by the Robin’s Nest store to stock up on cardstock and embellishments and while you are at it hop on over to Love Bug Creations and pick up some of that gorgeous rupple ribbon.

Lovey Dovey Rolodex

Hi everyone! I want to share a quick project I created for a swap I’m in on Swap-bot for Betty aka sewcrazy and of course I created one for myself. The supplies I used for this cute little rolo are My Mind’s Eye, K and Company, some paper scraps, Stampin’ Up A Little Somethin’ stamp set (Lovey Dovey stamp), buttons, The Robin’s Nest Dew Drops and I used the Sizzix Rolodex die.

The owl is something I came up with on my own. I used a onesie pattern that I cut from a Paper Trey die cut. I cut the arms off of the pattern and used a jar that traced to rounded the bottom of the pattern. The leg opening of the onesie I used a smaller jar that I traced and cut to make the ears. The wings and the beak is a heart…I cut the heart into two pieces to make the wings…and the tummy I used a punch.

I know I definitely want to make some more of these owls whether as cards or I might try my hand at making some little owl pin cushions. Whoooo knows 😉
Thanks for stopping by, have a wonderful day and most of all enjoy creating!!!

Whoooo Luvs Ya Baby???

I’m just dropping by for a really quick post since I’m on my way out the door to Knoxville. 🙂
For this project I had been playing around with some of my scraps of paper and came up with this little owl card that I created on my own…no template or pattern whatsoever.

I also used buttons and The Robin’s Nest Dew Drops for eyes. I’m so lovin’ this little fellow
and plan on playing around with some more paper and see if I can come up with some more feathery friends.

I hope this sparks your creative juices to create your own little feather friend. 🙂 Thanks for stopping by and enjoy creating!!!
