Field Notes Journal

Hi everyone! After I short break from the holidays I’m back with a project I created for the collaborating between Eileen Hull’s teams and GelPress! This collab has been going on the whole month of January and at the end of this post I will share links for those posts.

I chose to use a cut out I had laying around from the Notebook Diecut-663635(retired).

I gathered up some stencils, acrylic paints along with the Gel Press Printing Plate and Brayer. I’m looking forward to trying the plate and the brayer since this will be the first time using these. So let’s get started!

First I applied dollops of paint to the plate and with the brayer covered the plate with the paint.

I placed the notebook diecut (cover side down), placed a piece of cardstock over the diecut and plate and with the brayer rolled over the diecut and plate. The photo below is just paint that’s been applied to the plate with no stencils. It’s kind of cool how the paint separated on the plate and left negative areas on the notebook diecut.

I applied more paint to the plate and used two stencils, Petal Stencil and Handcut Blossom 12″x12″ Stencil (discontinued), to add texture and a design to the cover.

I had a leftover label from another project from the Full Size Journal Diecut which I applied paint with the plate and brayer. I also used the Field Notes Stamp from the Field Notes Nature Stamp Set (discontinued) and stamped the label. I strung two pieces of elastic cording through the ends of the label and tied.

I slipped the label and elastic around the spine of the notebook and placed two store bought notebooks under the elastic.

From my stash of fussy cut printables I adhered a floral bulb to the cover to complete.

Favorite Eileen Hull Projects of 2021 Roundup

Hi everyone! It’s that time of year when Eileen Hull’s Inspiration and Educator Teams share their favorite projects that they have created for the year. I choose three of my all time favorites.

The first one is the Condensed Snowflake December Daily The journal is “condensed” and created with the Full Size Journal Diecut. By the way, I need to start filling the pages with all things Christmas so I can share with y’all!

The second project is Just Trucking’ Along! Truck. If you know me I love adding my own spin on anything I create. I used the Vintage Truck Diecut and the 3D Camper Diecut to make the truck 3D.

The third and final project that I had so much fun with is the Reminisce Tiny Book. The twist with this project I “extended” the spine of the Tiny Book Diecut.

Vintage Artistry Wedding Album

Hi everyone! I’m back this week with a project created for this month’s Eileen Hull project. My best friend’s son was married this past Saturday I decided to use the Full Size Journal Diecut to create an album for all the wedding photos I’m sure that was taken.

I had 12″x12″ Mat Board that I used to create the cover with but if you have a hard time finding mat board that size chipboard is the next best thing. Since the finished journal is around 8 3/4″x6 1/4″ (not counting the spine) I used 8.5″x11″ Adhesive Sheets (so much easier than piecing together 6″x6″ sheets of adhesive) to adhere patterned cardstock to both sides of the mat board before running it through the Diecut Machine. Next I adhered both covers together at the spine and strung the spine with elastic cording.

The colors of the wedding was navy blue, modern gold and cream but I was given the go ahead that I could use muted and soft greens as an accent color. I added an assortment of patterned cardstocks to the cover and placed Foam Pop Dots to the largest diecut from the Reflective Moment Diecut Set (retired) that I cut out. Next I applied glue to three sides of the Vintage Artistry Sage Stitched Frames (retired) and added on top of the frame diecut. I cut out several flowers from the Tattered Flower Garland Diecuts (retired) in White Cardstock and shaped each with a Stylus, adhered on top of each other, added a flat back pearl to the center of each and I cut leaves from the foliage diecuts from the Artistry Sage 12″x12″ Collection. I used this collection through out the album.

I started out with three pages per signatures but as I added cardstock and tucks and flip outs and waterfalls the album bulked up. So I removed the third page from each signatures.

To keep the embellishments to a minimum I used rub ons from the Vintage Sky Collection and an assortment of embossing folders to add a little texture and visual interest.

I used the Waterfall Card and Tags Thinlits and created a place in the back of the album for candid snapshots.

I can tell you the wedding was a beautiful event (even though the ceremony was outside…it was cold). Also the bride loved the album…YAY! That is always stressful to me especially if I’m not sure of the brides style…modern, vintage, etc.

Condensed Snowflake December Daily Journal Reveal

Hi everyone! I’m back this week with the full reveal of my December Daily using Eileen Hull’s Full Size Journal Diecut. My motto it’s never to early to start working on a Christmas project…it’s my favorite time of year. So let’s get started!

All I had was the 6″x13″ Mat Board so I decided I would create a traveler’s notebook since I had notebooks on hand. Well, after applying Adhesive Sheets to both sides of the mat board and file folders to either side I cut two covers. One was a little off so I was going to even it up with my Paper Cutter…the cover slipped so I wound up cut both sides down to 3 1/2″ wide. Before adhesive the spine together I “peeled” one of the indented pieces of the spine off so the spine would be flat.

I cut a piece of polka dotted cardstock and adhered to the cover. Next I cut the circle from the Ornament Box Diecut and snowflake from the Wreath and Snowflake Thinlits and glued to the bottom corner of the journal.

I dressed up the snowflake with a mini snowflake ornament (I cut the hanger off), sequins, round and snowflakes, flatback pearls and the edges of the front and back covers I adhered Pom Pom Trim and gold Ric Rac.

Next I set eyelets in each hole before stringing elastic inside the journal and cut and placed cut patterned cardstock, notebook, accounting and dotted papers to create the inside signature.

From Post Box Diecut to Desktop Organizer

Hi everyone! I’m back with this month’s project for Eileen Hull! I’d started my Post Box project last month but decided I really didn’t like how it looked. (Raise your hand if have several unfinished projects laying in your craft room that you weren’t feeling it or it wasn’t going the way you envisioned it?) I wanted to take the Post Box Diecut in a different direction than what it was originally made for and this is what I came up with.

I started by measuring and cutting a piece of Mat Board to only cover the box part and a tiny part of the flap of the Post Box Diecut. I applied a piece of Adhesive Sheet to the mat board, placed patterned cardstock on top of the adhesive sheet along with the diecut and run through the Diecut Machine. The excess piece of mat board I did the same steps with the adhesive sheet and patterned cardstock but this time I place in the center of what is considered the bottom of the box (I rarely measure I’m a “eye baller”) and run through the diecut machine.

I cut the tiny part of the flap off.

Then I used a strong adhesive to glue both boxes together.

I adhered the smaller box to the lower half of the larger box.

I fussy cut some of the foliage and flowers out from a scrap of the patterned cardstock I used. I wrapped cording around both boxes and adhered a pre-made flower, bows made from cording and thread and the fussy cut images to the box.

So Sweet Shabby Chic Tennis Shoe

Hi everyone! I’m back with another project that I am so excited over. I have long wanted to revisit some of the diecuts that I have in my collections that I haven’t used in years. I was inspiration by @mintycraftsbycharlie on Instagram over the tennis shoe she created from cardstock and since I have the 3D Shoe Diecut #658987 (retired) that is by Eileen Hull I thought why not try and make a tennis shoe for myself?

I applied Adhesive Sheets to both sides of a piece of Mat Board and cut and placed patterned cardstock on both sides of the piece of mat board before placing on top of the shoe diecut and running through the Diecut Machine.

I shaped, folded the tabs and adhered the sides of the shoe diecut to the soul diecut.

I folded the bottom tab, shaped the “tongue diecut” and adhered to the front opening of the shoe.

I laced up the shoe with ribbon to keep the shape of the shoe while I worked on the “toe area”. I used a scalloped circle diecut (I used a Spellbinder’s diecut that is retired) which I cut 3/4 of it in half and the other half I glued to the back heel. I started by adhering a small portion of the scalloped circle diecut to the toe.

I cut on either side of the scalloped circles of the diecut.

I glued the scalloped circles to either side of the shoe making sure I shaped (rounded) the toe as I applied adhesive.

I also added tissue to the inside of the toe so if it got bumped it wouldn’t loose it shape.

I added patterned cardstock and trim around the bottom of the shoe.

I added gems to the scalloped circle diecut, a tab and fussy cut butterfly to the back.

I used two different sized circle punches, fussy cut rose and I adhered all to the tongue of the shoe. So what do you think? As always if you have any questions about this project please let me know.

Decoupage Journal Cover DIY

Hey everyone! Today I am playing along with the Designer Crafts Connection’s Decoupage Link Party Blog Hop! I’m sharing a simply journal cover I created using the Pocket Notebook Diecut, Botanical Tissue Paper and Mod Podge.

I started by cutting out two Pocket Notebook diecuts covers from Mat Board.

I cut two pieces of the Botanical Tissue Paper larger than the pocket notebook covers. I applied the Mod Podge to the covers with a sponge brush and then carefully placed the tissue paper onto the covers.

I also slowly worked the air bubbles out and what didn’t rub out disappeared with two more coats of Mod Podge.

I adhered both halves of the cover together, added a decorative oval diecut and a chipboard flower sticker to the cover.

I adhered patterned cardstock to the inside covers and spine. I also strung the spine with elastic cording to hold notebooks and closure.

Finding Happiness Pocket Notebook

Hi everyone! I want to share my other journal I created for Eileen Hull for her trip to the UK in September using her newest Pocket Notebook Diecut.

First I gathered up an assortment of Maggie Holmes cardstock Collections to create this journal. Then I applied Adhesive Sheets to the front and back of Matboard before placing cardstock on the front and back of the matboard.

I placed the Pocket Notebook Diecut on top of the matboard and run through the Diecut Machine. I cut two covers out.

I lined up the holes on the spine where only three holes showed both on the top and bottom and adhered together. I cut cardstock to fit both the inside and outside of the spine. I used a Crop A Dile to punch holes and set eyelets in the spine. I also added the elastic cording and tied off inside the spine.

I used the Nestled Borders Rectangles Diecut, stickers, pom pom trim, heart and gem and a couple of flowers and a leaf from Eileen’s Flowers and Leaves Journaling Cards Diecuts to decorate the cover of the journal. Genuine Vintage Pocket Notebook

Hi everyone! I want to share this Vintage Baseball Pocket Notebook I create for Eileen to take on her trip to the UK. Also I thought why not share since the World Series will be starting soon.

I applied Adhesive Sheets to both sides of the Mat Board, placed the cardstock on both sides, run through the Diecut Machine and I cut two covers out.

Also the cardstock I used is from Authentique, it’s retired and I can’t find the package to tell you what the name of the collection is…sorry. 😔 I added a “one of a kind” journaling card from the same collection to the cover. And I fussy cut from another journaling card two baseball players which I adhered one player to the front corner of the cover and added three black gems to each corner of the one of the “one of a kind” journaling card .

The back of the journal I adhered the other baseball players and a couple of banners to the lower corner.

I lined the last hole up on the spine and adhered together. For a more finished look I cut another piece of wood patterned cardstock and adhered to the spine and set Eyelets in each of the holes.

I ran the elastic cording through the button holes and the middle holes on the spine and tied off. I did add a little adhesive to the back of the button to keep it from sliding around.

I ran elastic cording through the holes on the spine and tied off inside the cover. There is eight elastic bands that can hold journals.

I forgot to add that I applied an adhesive sheet to the back of piece of cardstock and then I cut the word “journal” out from the Journaling Words Diecuts and placed it at the top of the journal cover. Tutti Frutti Business Card Holder

Hi everyone! I am back with another project from Eileen Hull’s newest diecut collection the Gift Card Folder and Label 2 Diecut.

I placed a piece of Mat Board on top of the diecut and run through the Diecut Machine.

I covered both the inside and outside with cardstock from the My Mind’s Eye Tutti Frutti Paper Pad.

I use mostly Zip Dry Adhesive but I chose to use Fabri-Fix to adhere the flaps together. I started with the first two flaps.

I used a cloth pin to keep the flaps together until they dried and then I added adhesive to the last flap and cloth pinned until dry.

The label diecut I covered with the same paper pad I used on the holder and adhered to the bottom of the holder. I cut several flowers and leaves from the Stitchy Flowers and Leaf Diecuts (retired) and Bookmark, Tag and Pocket Framelits out of the same paper pad.

I shaped the flowers and leaves with a Stylus before adhering to the front of the holder. I added a sequin and a gem to the center of the flower.

On the back side of the holder I added a strip of cardstock to the spool, a bird punched from patterned cardstock and I “wadded” the flowers up and then shaped along with the leaves. I added a brad from the Tutti Frutti Decorative Brads to the center of one of the flowers before adhering all to the backside of the holder.
