A Faithful Friend Tag

Hi everyone! It’s hard to believe the month is almost gone. I set some “loose yearly goals” for this coming year where I would like to at least do four blog posts a month…preferably more. Well, this is my fourth post of the month…yay!

Anyways, I would like to share a tag I created using the largest tag from the Tag Collection Thinlits by Tim Holtz and the 3D Silverware Embossing Folder by Eileen Hull. Let’s get started!

I cut from Kraft Cardstock the largest tag and the reinforcer from the Tag Collection Thinlits. I placed the tag into the 3D Silverware Embossing Folder and run through the Diecut Machine. Next, I applied Rose Gold Luster Wax over the embossed image on the tag and a soft blue chalk ink to add a weathered look to the tag.

I dug into my scrap pile of cardstock, rough upped the edges of the larger piece and added two smaller patterned pieces of cardstocks (the larger cardstock piece slightly hung off the tag while the other two pieces of cardstock were placed under the larger piece) and adhered all to the base of the tag.

I had a scrap piece of the Skinny Mini Elements Thinlits that I tore and placed onto the tag. I selected the two women diecut from the Mini Paper Dolls Pack and glued to the tag along with a scrap of sheer fabric. I picked the “A faithful friend” sentiment from the Clippings Cardstock Stickers and placed above the women. I cut two flowers and a leaf sprig from the Folio Page Pocket and Flowers Thinlits, shaped with a Stylus, adhered the flowers on top of each other and glued the leaf sprig to the back of the flower before adding to the tag. I finished by placing a Glossy Dot in the center of the flower and gluing a vintage button to the tag.

A Beary Merry Christmas Cork Journal

Hi everyone! I’m super excited to share this project with y’all. Eileen Hull’s teams were sent a package of Surfaces Cork Roll from Sizzix to create something using Eileen’s dies, thinlits and embossing folders. I used the Notepad Diecut, Wreath and Snowflake Thinlits, the label from the Card Caddy Diecut and the hinge from the Treasure Box Diecut (retired) along with some other thinlits and embossing folders from Olivia Rose and Tim Holtz. Let’s get started!

First, I gathered up all my supplies before starting.

I applied Adhesive Sheets to both side of a piece of Mat Board, cut the cork and a piece of cardstock to fit the mat board. Next I placed the diecut onto the mat board and run through the Diecut Machine. I cut the cover twice.

I placed the journal cover into the 3D Tree Rings Embossing Folder but could not get it to run through the diecut machine, which sent me into a mini panic. But after much tinkering I used two sets of cutting plates and a crease pad to emboss both covers.

I peeled the cork and mat board away from one of the tabs on the spine.

This will make the spine have a “flat” look once it is glued together.

I used a combination of chalk inks on the cover and I also applied with my finger Rose Gold Luster Wax in random spots.

I picked three different shades of green from the Surfacez Eclectic Color Collection and cut three wreaths from the Wreath and Snowflake Thinlits. I cut two “open” and wove them through the wreath that I didn’t cut and adhered to the cover.

From the same paper collection I cut out all the parts for the bear from the Doodle Christmas Thinlits and used a combo of adhesive sheets and adhesive to piece together.

I lightly inked over parts of the bear and adhered to the cover.

I punched two holes in the top and bottom of the spine with a Crop-A-Dile and set eyelets into each hole before stringing elastic cording through the holes and tying off.

I covered with cardstock a label from the Card Caddy Diecut and the hinge from the Treasure Box Diecut and adhered on top of each other before gluing to the spine.

For the booklets inside the journal I had an A6 plain planner notebook but it was too tall. No problem!

I measured and cut the notebook in half (2 7/8″) and I also added a bit of glue to the stitches on each end of each book to keep it from coming undone.

I covered each book with a festive Christmas cardstock and added a present and a tree from the Doodle Christmas Thinlits and seals from the Prize Ribbons Diecut (retired) onto each book.

I’m not sure if I’ll make a December Daily out of this or use as glue book? What would you use it as?

Vintage Inspired Button Decor Piece

Hi everyone! For the month of March Eileen Hull’s Inspiration and Educator Teams have been challenged to create something using felt, fabric and fiber and this is what I came up with!

I had fun, for the most part, altering an empty Laughing Cow container and turning it into a fun home decor piece. Originally I was going to create the container where it opened and things could be stored inside but the project went side ways. UGH! I completely abandoned that idea when I couldn’t get the inside of the container fixed the way I wanted it to look.

First off, I placed the container on top of a piece of cardstock and drew around the container (twice, one each for the top and bottom of the container) and cut both circles out. I placed the circles into the 3D Vintage Button Embossing Folder and ran through the Diecut Machine. Next, I applied Gold Luster Wax lightly over the embossed button images.

I adhered the top and bottom of the container together before adding the embossed images, lace and Pom Pom trim.

I cut two Mandala Thinlits from tissue paper and folded to create a lace like trim for the top of the container.

I placed two of the button card stamps from the Button Cards #2 Stamp Set onto the MISTI Stamping Tool, inked with Brown Ink and stamped onto a piece of Cream Cardstock. I cut both images out, roughed up and added ink around the edges.

The Mandala Thinlits I had cut out earlier I glued to the container.

The button cards I adhered the bottom of each to the container and placed Foam Pop Dots at the top of cards. I dug into my stash of old buttons (that had been cut off whatever that had been sewn onto) and glued to the smaller button card.

I once again dug into my stash and this time I used flowers and leaves that I had cut out from the Flowers and Leaves Journaling Cards Thinlits (retired). All I had to do was ink and shape before adding to the top of the container.

I finished off the piece by adding cording and thread bows, loose buttons, pearl sprays and a pearl top pin. I love the fact that I was able to up-cycle the cheese container and turn it into something to be used as decor in the home.

Be sure to stop by Eileen’s blog for more inspiration for both of her teams! You can find the latest posts HERE and HERE.
