An Aspen Christmas Tag

Hi everyone! You know Christmas is only a few months away right? And since it is my favorite holiday I had to created a little pastel Christmas tag for Blank Page Muse using the Aspen Creepy Cute Kid Rubber Stamp.

I placed the girl stamp onto MISTI Stamping Tool, inked with waterproof Black Ink and stamped the image onto a piece of Watercolor Paper. I used an assortment of watercolors and colored pencil to fill in the girl before fussy cutting the image out.

I cut out two, one of each designs, pink and white striped and polka dots tags from the Waterfall Card and Tags Thinlits. I inked the edges and dug out scraps of patterned cardstock to make banners before adhering to the tag along with the girl image.

I dug into my stash of diecuts and added a holly diecut, thread bows and pearl sprays to the corner of the tag. To finish I adhered Pom Pom Trim to the bottom and Hot Pink Ribbon to the top of the tag.

Canvas and Ribbon Pumpkin Wall Hanging

Hi everyone! I’m back with day two with a wall hanging I created for the Gwen Studios Design Team call! Yesterday I shared a wedding frame and if you would to see that project you can find it HERE.

Since Autumn is right around the corner I decided I wanted to create a pumpkin wall hanging.

I had a banner that I had created a few years ago for a booth at Creativation and doesn’t really go with the decor in my home so I decided I would up-cycle one of the canvas banners and create a pumpkin out of it. This is what it looked like after I pulled off all the decorations.

But I’ll be using the backside of the banner for my project.

I started by mixing a little white acrylic paint to some orange acrylic paint and painting the whole banner.

Once dry I placed and taped the Handcut Blossom Stencil to the banner and applied Extra Heavy Gel over the stenciled area.

I removed the stencil and let the banner dry.

Next I cut approximately 2 inches off of a shim (you can find these at a hardware store) to create a stem for the pumpkin. You can also use a popsicle stick or whatever you have on hand.

I applied a stain to the stem and let dry. You can also speed up the process by using a Heat Gun if you have one handy.

While that was drying I cut three 5 inches of each 7/8″ Faux Cow Print Leather Ribbon and 3/8″ Gray Faux Leather Snake Skin Ribbon. I also cut seven 5 inches and one 20 inches of the of the 3/8″ Black Ribbon.

I laid all of the ribbons on top of one of the black ribbons.

I forgot to mention that I cut a “v” in the larger ribbon and the rest I cut at a angle after I tied all together to create a bow.

I adhered the wooden stem, the 20 inches of black ribbon to the pumpkin and lightly inked over the stenciled image with chalk ink.

I glued the bow to the top of the pumpkin to finish off the hanging. As always if you have any questions about this project please let me know.

All Things Old are New Again Wedding Frame

Hi everyone! I want to share a project I created for an upcoming design team call for Gwen Studios.

Truth be told I started this project about four years ago…yep I pulled this from the pile of unfinished projects that I have pushed off to the side in my craft room. In the photo below this is where I had stopped with this frame. I had used a mat board frame that I covered with patterned cardstock, created a shallow shadow box with the Make It 3D Diecut (retired), add Medallion Diecuts (retired), the photo and trim.

Since my son and daughter in law’s wedding anniversary is coming up I thought this would be a great time to finish this and give it to them as a gift. I did cut out the Mr and Mrs sentiment and the Mandala Thinlit and add to the side of the frame.

I used the 3/8″ Black Satin Ribbon by Gwen Studios to create two bows.

I adhered the single bow to the top corner of the frame and added a flower, pearl sprig and a scrap of lace.

The larger bow I glued to the bottom corner of the frame and finished with flowers and pearl sprigs. Don’t you think the flowers “pops” against the black ribbon?

I think the frame will look perfect in my son and daughter in law’s house since it has a farmhouse vibe going on.

If you are looking for a different color of ribbon you can find that at Walmart.com along with patches and fabric. Also if you have any questions about this project please let me know.

DCC and Gwen Studios Blog Hop

Hi everyone! I’m back today with my project I created for the Designer Crafts Connection and Gwen Studios blog hop!

Gwen Studios has a wonderful selection of beautiful ribbons, trims and bows and I’m so excited to be able to use a few of these on my journal page!

I love to use up what scraps of cardstock that I have laying around so I decided to create a page for my journal. First I gathered scraps of patterned cardstocks and the Peach Pom Pom, Tassel and Ribbon Box Set.

I adhered the scraps of cardstocks together and cut a piece of the peach ribbon to fit the bottom of the page. I punched a hole into the ribbon and cardstock on either side of the page. I selected from the Oh Snap! Snap Fastener Kit (online Walmart July 2021) a heart shaped snap, placed into the punched hole and set with the fastener tool.

I cut and glued a piece of the tassel from the Peach Pom Pom, Tassel and Ribbon Box Set to the side of the page.

I added a flamingo and flower diecuts that was laying on my desk to finish the page.

Be sure to stop by the DCC blog to see what the other members of the team have created. You can find the link HERE.

Let Freedom Ring Tag

Hi there! How is everyone? Will you be doing anything special for the 4th of July? Are you staying cool in your neck of the woods? Here, we are in the upper 80’s to low 90’s with not much relief in sight…so glad my husband agreed to getting a swimming pool! Anyways, I want to share a patriotic tag I created for the 4th of July!

I used the July cardstocks from the Authentique: Calendar Collection (retired) to create both sides of this tag. I cut patterned cardstock to 5″x10 1/2″ to create the base for the tag.

The journaling cards/cut-a-parts in the collection I cut apart, adhered some to the base and added Foam Pop Dots to the back of a couple to give dimension to the tag.

I cut and adhered Patriotic Red, White and Blue Ribbon underneath the cut-a-parts, along with thread, stars, sequins and White Pom Pom Trim at the bottom of the tag.

There you have it! If you have questions about this project please let me know.
