Enjoying a Dog Gone Good Day

Hi everyone! I created a card for my son’s girlfriend. Her birthday was yesterday and we won’t be getting together until later on but I just had to share. 🙂
She fosters dogs until she can find a forever home so I thought I would do something in a dog theme for her.
I cut a 6″x6″ piece of striped cardstock for the front of the card, cut a 5 1/2″x5 1/2″ piece of Gold and Pink Daisy Glitter Cardstock, inked the edges and then adhered to the base. Next I printed out the dog digi image and fussy cut it out, stamped the “enjoy” sentiment on a scrap of white cardstock and then I glued cut frames of cardstock for the sentiment and dog image, adhered each to the frame and then to the base. I finished off with punched flowers which I shaped, butterfly, ribbon, baker’s twine and dew drops.

The easel I cut a 6″x 11″ piece of cardstock and folded at 4″, 4″, 1″, 1″, 1″ and I glued the 1″ flap to the back of the 4″ flap to create an easel. I cut from the leftover cardstock a pocket which I added glue to three of the sides and placed on the back of the easel. Next I adhered the card base to the easel and waaa-laaa! I simply and fun card! 🙂

White Mice and Buttons

Button It in a UP Blog Hop!

Crafters of every stripe are button hoarders! Buttons are pretty, inexpensive, and extremely versatile. If you are a card maker, quilter, layout artist, or anything in between, you probably have a button hoard! Buttons come in many sizes, styles, shapes, and colors, plus they are easy to store…usually in cute containers! Pull out those bins of buttons and use some of them for your challenge project!  You can participate in the Craft Hoarders Challenge and win a prize from the blog sponsor… Altered Pages!

I admit it! I have tons of buttons stored in jars, boxes and even little baggies from the many swaps I have participated in the past and for me it is sometimes hard to turn loose of them and use them in my projects. But I would like to share a quick gift card holder/wall decoration that is easy to create using buttons and an empty toilet paper roll.  Are you ready to get started? 🙂

First off I painted the toilet paper roll inside and out. Once dry dry I flattened the roll which I ran it through my Sizzix die cutting machine to flatten it but if you don’t have one you can use a bone folder to get crisp edges. I used the Tim Holtz Scallops die on the bottom of the TP roll and the top I embossed with Geometric Ring embossing folder. Then I applied mod lodge on the outside, let dry and the inside the scalloped bottom added a thin line of mod lodge and clipped together with clothes pin and let dry.

Next I adhered a ban of cardstock from the Happy Travels Paper Pad right below the embossing on the TP roll, added lace, ribbon and seam binding bow to the outer edge of the roll. I cut a 10″ piece of seam binding for the handle and adhered each end to the inside of the roll. Then I finished it off with flowers that I punched out from  one of the Text Pages, shaped just a little, layered and adhered together and topped off with hemp cord and a button.

I cut one of the Victorian Labels out and glued to a piece of cardstock, added gathered lace, hemp cord and  buttons in various spots along with a couple of paper flowers to finish off this re-purposed and now useful project.

I hope you have enjoyed my project and if you have any questions please let me know.

Supplies Used:

Sizzix: Tim Holtz- Scallops die, Cuttlebug: Geometric Embossing Folder, Hemp Cord, Lace,  Ribbon, Buttons, Acrylic Paint, Flower Punch, Chalk Ink

Beach Front House

Hi everyone! My hubby booked our room this weekend at the beach which I’m super excited about. I am so over this cold weather it’s not even funny.
With the excitement of a vacation and warmer weather around the corner I created this fun little project using the Sizzix Gift Card Holder, House. I think I’m going to use this as a page in my vacation mini to the beach though.
While I was out shopping Saturday I found  My Mind’s Eye Lost & Found 3 Oliver Collection (48 sheets of glittery goodness) at Hobby Lobby on clearance for $10 so I used a sheet from that for the house base. I cut from the Tim Holtz Alterations Scallops die the roof. I used some corrugated cardboard that I put back to create the roof. I distressed and inked it to give it that weathered/rough look. I also fussy cut the anchor from the Creative Imaginations Beach Front Collection…simply gorgeous paper.

The clasp I found at Hobby Lobby too. I thought it would be perfect addition along with the buttons and dew drop that I used to create a gable.

I embossed some Bazzill cardstock with the Sizzix Snowballs embossing folder and added that to the inside of the house. The flap I created a pocket to hold small tags or keepsakes from my trip. The doorway I figure I can either add a photo and/or I can slip more memorabilia behind the “wall”. 🙂

I hope you have enjoyed my take on this Sizzix Gift Card Holder, House and if you have any questions let me know. Thanks for stopping by, hope your Monday is wonderful and enjoy creating!!!

From Me to You

Hi everyone! I would like to share a quick post on a gift card holder I created. I had leftover scrapbook paper and I had got the Tim Holtz’s Alterations Townscape diecut on clearance at Hobby Lobby…really cheap…that I wanted to use and this is what I came up with.

I also used the Sizzix SU Hearts and Brackets diecut to cut the heart out and, of course, I had to use some Robin’s Nest Dew Drops too 🙂

The inside of the card I used a empty toilet paper roll holder as the base for the gift card holder. I used the Townscape die on one end of the TP roll. Once the TP roll is decorated adhere it to the inside of the card.

Now all you have to do is add is a gift card.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great day!!!
Enjoying creating!!!
