Transforming an Amazon Mailer into a Festive Gift Bag

Hi everyone! I’m back today with another recycled Amazon Mailer. But this time I turned it into a gift bag for a Christmas present.

The first thing I did to the mailer was carefully remove the packaging label and cut the flap off.

I painted the outside of the mailer. I also painted a little of the top inside using Dixie Belle Chalk Mineral Mint Julep Paint. The mailer required two coats of paint. I used what paint I had on hand. You can definitely use any type of paint to make this project.

I used the Chillin’ Stamp Set (retired) since it had a giant size snowflake stamp. I placed the stamp onto a MISTI Stamping Tool and inked with Green Ink. I stamped onto a piece of Watercolor Paper. I fussy cut the snowflake out and used an assortment of inks over the image.

I adhered the sequins and gems to the snowflake before gluing to the mailer. A side note, if you don’t have a giant snowflake stamp, you can use diecuts or printables. You can even use several smaller snowflakes to dress up the mailer.

I adhered Large Ric Rac to the top of the mailer.

Now all I have to do is add a present, tissue paper and it’s ready to give as a gift. If you have any questions or comments about this project please leave them below.

How to Make a Gift Bag Using the Field Notes and Specimen Diecut

Hi everyone! I’m back with my first project of the month for Eileen Hull. I created a gift bag using the Field Notes and Specimen Diecut, Envelope, Folder and Flowers Thinlits and Floral Silhouette Thinlits (only at Scrapbook.com) along with a few other dies and thinlits by Eileen. So let’s get started!

First, I covered Chipboard with Adhesive Sheets on both sides, cut and placed the oranges…or maybe they are peaches…cardstock onto the front and a lime green cardstock onto what will be the inside of the gift bag. Also the orange cardstock is from the Sunny Days Collection. I placed the covered chipboard onto the Field Notes and Specimen Diecut, sandwiched between the cutting plates and run through the Diecut Machine. I cut two of these out and punched a total of four holes in the top of the “bag”.

I used the “pocket” from the Ornament Box Diecut to create the sides for the gift bag. I cut chipboard a little larger than the size of the pocket, applied adhesive sheets to inside of where the flaps a total of will be exposed. I cut strips of cardstock and placed over the adhesive areas and cut out three pockets. I cut one of the pockets in half and this will make up the sides.

Next, I “peeled” two of the “folds” from the bottom of the bag.

I adhered the flaps to each side of the bag.

The area I peeled the cardstock and some of the chipboard from I glued both sides together. I measured the inside of the wall and cut cardstock to fit. Next, I adhered the Cardstock to the inside. the excess I folded over and glued to the outside of the bag. I cut cardstock to fit the outside and adhered in place.

For the large flower I cut out four flowers, for the smaller flowers I cut out two flowers per flower, one large and two small flower centers and one large and two small leaves from the Envelope, Folder and Flowers Thinlits. I used a Stylus to shape all.

For the larger flower I layered and glued four of the flowers and a large flower center together. The two smaller flowers I glued two together and added a center to each. I love the fact that you can make these dimensional or leave them flat if you so choose to.

I cut the oval from the Journaling Card, Envelope and Windows Thinlits and adhered to the top of the bag. I cut two flowers, shaped and glued together from the Floral Silhouette Thinlits. From my stash I pulled shaped flowers and vines from the Shadow Box Elements Thinlits. I placed all flowers, leaves and vines onto the oval area of the bag.

I tied ribbon to both sides of the gift bag to finish. Even though this die was intended to create a journal it’s perfect to create a gift bag too. What do you think?

How to Create a Festive Floral Christmas Gift Bag

Hi everyone! Can you believe that Christmas is right around the corner? I can’t but I can say I’m a little ahead of the game and have a few holiday projects created ahead of time. This first project I want to share is for the 3rd Annual Comfort and Joy Event hosted by Eileen Hull. I up-cycled a cloth bag that a set of pillow cases came in and turned it into a gift bag for Christmas. I used the Sunflower Diecut to create my version of a poinsettia. Let’s get started!

First, I cut out the flowers and leaf out of paper from the Sunflower Die.

I used two of the smaller flowers and the leaf as a patterned to cut the felt slightly larger than the pattern.

I cut two of each of the flowers, total of four, and two leaves. I layered and adhered the flowers on top of each other. I did cut a set in a cream and peach color that I plan on using in another project (stay tuned).

The leaf I added a little glue to the center and pinched together.

Next I cut and tied in the center yellow embroidery thread and unwound. I adhered to the back of a flat back pearl, glued to the center of the flower and the leaf to the back of the flower. I also cut out a couple of hollies from green felt from the Funky Festive Thinlits and added.

I used an assortment of metallic threads, green thread, gold ribbons, gold vines, pom pom trim and red berry sprays to “bling” out the flower.

I have managed to acquire a collection of these fabric bags but never really knew what to do with them but now I do.

Once everything dried I adhered the flower below the elastic on the bag and let that dry well.

I added a body wash to the bag and now my first Christmas present is wrapped! YAY!

But sure to stop by Eileen Hull’s blog and see what her team has been up to! You can find the latest posts HERE and HERE. Vintage Christmas Angel Gift Bag

Hi everyone! I’m back again with another idea for Christmas! This time I creating a gift bag to hold either candy or small gift.

I started by inking the Christmas angel stamp from Character Constructions: Vintage Christmas No. 4 with Wicked Black Ink onto a piece of Watercolor Paper. Push the lid in of each of the following Dyestress Blendable Dye Inks: Palomino, Salmon, Posy, Graphite, Moonstone and Scuba. I removed the lid from each ink and add a little water and painted directly from each lid.

I watercolored the angel’s face and hands with Palomino ink and let dry. Next I shaded the face with Salmon ink and painted the outfit with Scuba ink and shade with Graphite ink. The head scarf and belt I painted with Moonstone ink. I painted the candle with Posy ink.
Once dry I fussy cut the angel image out, applied Clear Glitter to wings and outfit and added four flat back pearls to angel.

I cut the following pieces of patterned cardstock: 3″x6″ and 1 7/8″x3 1/2″ and adhered both to the front of the bag. I also cut two strips of patterned cardstock slightly smaller than the bag. I cut a “V” into the end of the strips to create a banner and adhere to the bag.

Next I spritzed a wooden snowflake with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz and once dry adhered to the bag.

I added sequins, buttons and flat back pearls to the snowflake.

I stamped the “Peace on Earth” sentiment from the Vintage Christmas No. 4 Stamp Set with Wicked Black Ink onto a strip of white cardstock and cut a “V” in the end to create a banner and added onto the top of the snowflake.

I applied Pop Dots to the back of the angel and add to the bag. To keep the bag closed I clipped a Mini Clothes Pin to the top of the bag. There you have it another DIY Christmas project that will save you time…as in getting out in all the shopping craziness and it will save you a little money too. 😊
I would like to submit this project for the following challenge:

Eileen Hull: Party Flower Gift Bags

Hi everyone! I’m here to share my Inspiration Team project this month for Eileen Hull and this month’s theme is party planning. I have had this set of gift bags I had bought at Target in the Dollar spot laying around and thought wouldn’t it be nice to dress them up with some flowers???

So I cut a set of Romance Flowers Diecuts from white cardstock and painted all with watercolors and let dry.

I shaped slightly with a stylus and adhered a button and dew drop to the center and cut three Spring Leaves Diecuts (one for the other gift bag). I shaped both leaves and glued one to the back of the flowers along with twine and gold metallic thread. Once all that was dry I adhered the flower to the corner of the gift bag.

I cut three sets of Heart and Soul Flower Diecuts out, shaped, glued together and add a button to the center.

Next I added two Spring Leaves Diecuts and gold metallic thread to the back of the flower.

Now these little gift bags are all dressed up and ready for gift giving!

If you have missed some of the other design teams awesome party ideas be sure to hop over to Eileen’s blog and see all their craftiness.
If you have any questions about these projects please let me know.

Crafty Card Gallery: Celebration Seeds

Hi there! I know it has been awhile since my last post but me and my hubby are now first time grandparents…we are very happy, my son moved but stayed in state…insert a crying face even if we are two hours away and I have FINALLY started my long awaited craft room which we are still in the middle of doing. My parents came over to help and I am so thankful for them because I would have pulled out my hair with some of the crazy things that happened with the ceiling. After scraping the popcorn off the ceiling the paint crackled and flaked not once but three times which wasn’t fun let me tell you. That meant scraping three different times and dealing with dust but now it looks great along with the new paint color that is on the walls. Hopefully next week my parents will be back to install the new floors. 🙂
Well, I would like to share a card I created for Crafty Card Gallery and this month’s theme is flowers. What I created isn’t a card but a little gift bag which you can put a card inside, gift card or something fun.
I started out with a 5″x7 1/2″ Large Paper Bag which I cut the “flap” off and punched the top of the bag with a decorative punch. Cut and adhered a 5″x5″ piece from the Take Our Breath Away Gypsy Moments Cardstock and ink the edges with green chalk ink. Then I adhered a Black Bookmark off center of the bag.

I cut the Best Wishes image from the Seed Packets on Ivory Cardstock. I love this collection. You can leave it as is or add paint/color the image.

I used pop dots to raise the image off of the bag. I also used thread, tulle, lace, pearl sprays, paper flowers and buttons to finish off the bag. I hope you like what I created and if you have any questions please let me know.

Supplies Used:
Other Supplies:Pink and Lime Green Thread, Lace, Tulle, Buttons, Paper Flowers, Martha Stewart Edge Punch, Pearl Sprays, Chalk Ink

Thanks for stopping by, hope your Saturday is awesome and enjoy creating!

Golden Mason Jar Gift Bag

Hi everyone! I’m here to share a project I created for a challenge that is going on over at Sizzix’s blog. My inspiration comes from the photo below. I love the soft, blurred and watercolor feel of the photo and this my take on it.

I started off with a small polka dot gift bag and added soft and vintage looking cardstock. Next I cut a jar from the packaging of what Eileen Hull’s Canning Jars, 3D diecut came in. Yep, the jar is plastic…I then embossed it with the Snowballs embossing folder which is from the Winter Set from Sizzix.

I then applied three coats of Gold Enamel Glitter Paint and once dry I cut and twisted two pieces of 20 gauge copper wire around the neck of the jar and “curled” all the ends.

I added a vintage earring I had received in a swap along with some twigs to the corner of the jar. I cut the flowers and leaves from Brenda Walton’s Holiday Greenery diecut, shaped and added sequins and gems/jewels/dew drops to the centers of the flowers. I cut from matboard a tag from the Tags, Mini diecut (Retired Sizzix Orginal). I sprayed it with Tattered Angels Sugar Plum Fairy and once dry I added a rub on and flower to finish it off. I then tied it to the wire.

I adhered lace and velvet ribbon to the bottom of the bag. What a perfectly adorable way to present a gift to a friend. If you have any questions please let me know. Be sure to check out Sizzix Challenge for this month and see what everyone else has created.
Also I am submitting this project for the Paper Wing Productions September Challenge.
