Creative Cards with North Pole Friends Simon Hurley and Spellbinders

Hi everyone! The month of July has flown by. I haven’t had a chance to share some of the projects I created for Spellbinders. I want to share a couple of completed of cards using Simon Hurley’s North Pole Friends Collection for Spellbinders.

The first card I created I used the Santa’s Elves Etched Dies to create this fun holiday scene.

The base of the card is 5″x 7″. I used an assortment of plain and patterned cardstocks to put these elves together.

The second card, the base is 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. I used The Clauses Etched Dies for Mrs. Claus and for the Santa card below.

And like the Elves card I used an assortment of cardstock. A side note, I use Adhesive Roll to back all pieces of cardstock. Since all diecut pieces are very small this makes it much easier to put the images together.

Chunky Merry Christmas Stocking

Hi everyone! I wanted to hop on today and share a project that I actually created for a swap this past Christmas. I occasionally participate on Instagram with a group of ladies that does swaps. In this particular swap we had to make a stocking from scratch and fill it with handmade and/or store bought goodies.
I found a stocking pattern in a craft book that I had laying around and since I couldn’t quite get the book to lay flat enough to scan and then print it I took the book to Staples and had it enlarged and printed for me. Since the person at the counter at Staples had such a hard time getting it enlarged and printed I wasn’t charged…it pays to be nice especially if it’s busy. 😊 Also you can find stocking images to print out on the internet. All you have to do is search and pick out the image you like best.
I traced the stocking pattern onto a piece of cardstock and cut out two stockings. I cut two and a half of the Make-it 3-D Diecut  (retired) from White Chipboard out but Eileen Hull has other diecuts that can be used such as the “pocket” from the Christmas Snowman Diecut. Plus you have the snowman that could be used as a decoration on the stocking.  
I adhered the tabs of the Make it 3D die to one side of the stocking. I did the same steps for the other side of the stocking. I measured and cut strips of patterned cardstock and adhered to the “wall” Make it 3D diecuts. 
I glued pom pom trim to both sides of the stocking. The lace I adhered to the inside of the stocking and then folded over to create the cuff. I punched a hole in the side and set a Wide Eyelet with a Crop a Dile. I strung about 12 inches of gold trim and tied off at the top.
I started by adding a paper doily and part of a Christmas snowflake ornament (part of it was damaged) to the corner of the cuff. I built up the layers by using Foam Pop Dots on the back of Christmas diecuts so I could add greenery, over sized beads, pearl sprays, poinsettias and thread bows underneath.
I added small wrapped gifts inside and mailed off to my swap partner. I think I will be making more this year since I now have all the kinks worked out and I know exactly have I will put it together. I stumbled through the process since this was the first one I had ever made. As always if you have any questions about this project please let me know.

Little Snowgirl Wishes Mini Book

Hi everyone! How are you all holding up this month? I know a lot of places still have restrictions and if you live in the south it is HOT! Like upper 90’s with a heat index of over 100 HOT! My husband and I have been trying to stay as cool as possible whether right next to the air conditioner or in the pool..which the water is starting to feel like bath water…ugh! 😎
Well, I am finally sharing the complete reveal of my project that I did a sneak peek for Eileen Hull’s Chapter 3 Christmas in July blog hop. If you missed out on that post you can find the blog hop HERE.
I used a wide assortment of diecuts, Eileen Hull’s: Snowman Christmas Box, Bookmark, Tag and Pocket, Bookplate, Hinges and Label (retired), and the Credit Card Sleeve and Tags (retired) Diecuts. Tim Holtz: Christmas Diecuts and Embossing Folder (used the embossing folder on a tag) and the Holiday Words Diecuts (retired) to create the inside pages, outside cover and spine of this mini book.
I started by applying an Adhesive Sheets on the front and backside of a piece of Chipboard along with patterned cardstocks (for the book, scarf, hat and nose and the pink vellum for the snow girl body…I cut two of those) placed on top of the Snowman diecuts and run through the Diecut Machine. I cut the tabs off of the box diecut and folded to create the base for the book. I also put the snowgirl’s front and back together and I used black gems for the eyes instead of using the diecut eyes.
The pages inside of the book I cut from the assortment of diecuts that I mentioned above. There are three signatures with three pages and one pocket per signature. I cut a piece of cardstock slightly smaller than the inside spine and measured and poked holes in all the pages, the flaps of pockets and the piece of paper.
I tied off each signature on the back side of the piece of paper and then adhered the flaps to the back side of each pocket.
I adhered the pages to the inside of the spine and used binder clips to hold them in place while the adhesive dried.
I lightly decorated with embellishments from my stash, scraps of wrapping paper, lace, pom pom trim, and packaging. 

Don’t you just love the little jingle bell hanging from the side of the mini book?
I decorated the spine with the “wishes” from the Holiday Words diecuts. I placed an adhesive sheet on a scrap of cardstock before running through the diecut machine and the adhesive sheet makes it so much easier to place each letter onto the spine.
I used the reverse of the 25 diecut for the cover of the book and I added a mini snowflake ornament, sequin and flatback pearl to the cover. There you have it!
