Robin’s Nest: Love Makes my Tea Cup Over Flow

Hi everyone! I am back as a guest designer this month for the Robin’s Nest. I want to share a quick project I created using a sheet of the Lips Glittered Cardstock which I printed this  Tea cup and Saucer printable on to it. It is a very easy project to do. All you have to do is, of course, print and then cut the cup and saucer out and glue together. For more photos and how to please check out the Chattering Robin’s blog!

Thanks for stopping by, hope your Saturday is awesome and enjoy creating!

Do You Hear Spring Calling?

Hi everyone and Happy Spring! I’m here to share my project for the Robin’s Nest. This month I used the Spring Collection which is 20% off  this month and I might say it is simply springy.  Also we are cross promoting with Altered Pages which has some awesome vintage collage images.
I have an over abundance of buttons, lace, ribbon, charms, ephemera from swaps and I really want to get it contained into one storage container. Well, this is what I came up with…an altered egg carton!!! It has 18 cups to put away tidbits of crafty goodness.

I started with gessoing the egg carton inside and out. Once the gesso is dry paint with acrylic paint. I didn’t paint the top or inside of the lid because I would be covering it with cardstock.

Next cut two Green Butterfly Glitter Cardstock (I used the backside of the cardstock) to fit the top and inside of the lid.

Adhere to the top of the lid.

Also to the inside lid…I inked around the edges of the cardstock to add more color.

I added Moss Green Glitter Cardstock to the top along with Purple Ants Glitter Cardstock and Spring Stripe Glitter Cardstock which I made banners out of and adhered to the lid. Next I glued lace around the outer edge of the egg carton.

I used this Metallic Blue Christmas Trim that I got on clearance for 40 cents at Hobby Lobby…I love a great deal! 🙂 I glued it just above the lace all the way around. I then added sequins and Beach Dew/Tear Drops to ever other “bead”.

A close up of the bow with stacked buttons and topped off with a Beach Dew/Tear Drops.

I fussy cut from the Little Spring Birdies collage sheet a bird and nest with baby birds and adhered them to the corners of the lid and then decorated with paper flowers (some store bought and some handmade), dew drops, gems that were rescued from a damaged prom dress and mini Easter eggs. I also added Stickles to the images.

The most time consuming part of altering this egg carton was the gessoing and the painting. Other than that it is easy peasy to decorate. 🙂
I have already added my collection of goodies to all the cups. Now I will be able to have them at my fingertips when I need to add the right little something to one of the many projects I have going on.
Also notice I added a dew drop to each “tip” of each cup. 🙂

Banner of Love

Hi everyone! It’s me, Tonya and I’m here to share my project that I created for the Chattering Robin’s blog using the Wild About U Collection which is 20% off this month. Also we are cross promoting wonderful laser cut chipboard pieces and die cuts with Gina’s Designs. I came up with an adorable Valentine’s Day banner that I created using small 4″x6″ paper sacks, felt heart shape Christmas ornaments, red foil heart shape doilies and vintage children images some I found on the internet and one I got from a Crafty Secrets sheet of vintage images.

Winter Fairy Ornament

Hi everyone!!! It’s me, Tonya!!! I’m here to share my design team project for the Robin’s Nest this month. I used the Winter Collection (Russia) which is 20% off this month over at their website and we are also cross promoting with Ecstasy Crafts this month too.
A couple of months ago I ate a cheese soufflé at Panara Bread. It was served in this cute little paper container that looked like a tart tin. Well I knew that I could alter it into something cute.
Once I got it home I cleaned it, added a coat of gesso, let dry, painted with navy blue paint, let that dry and finally mod podge to seal.

Next I used the 3D Precut Fairy Children sheet and punched out all the pieces which are numbered in the order they should be added to the main photo. Instead of using pop up dots I used the “extra leftovers” from the rubber stamps I cut out. It works perfectly, great way to recycle and, of course, save money too!!! Once I pieced the little fairy together I added a little bit of glitter to her wings and then I let dry.

Next I adhered a four inch doilie to the inside and back of the “tin” and glued the fairy child, which I rounded the top to fit inside the “tin”, on top of the doilie. I sewed a ruffle from lace and tulle. I didn’t measure either when sewing. I “eyeballed” until it looked right and then I adhered it to the inside corner. I then added gesso as snow here and there on the lace and tulle and then sprinkled glitter on top of that to give it a snowy look. I also added a little bird’s nest and some pearly sprigs.
Next I punched out a bunch of flowers from Snow Angels Glitter Cardstock and Boy Polka Dot Stamp Cardstock scraps I had left over from other projects I had created. I inked some of the flowers in Ocean Depth Chalk Ink. While those dried I misted the other flowers with water and then shaped with a stylus. Once they have dried completely, adhered two together and add a pearl dew drop in the center. Next, the blue flowers I glue a Lakeside Dew Drop in the center of each. One of those blue flowers I added snowflake stickers to give it a wintery feel. Now the fun part…adhere them in and around the nest and fairy child and them add gesso on the doilie, flowers and edges of the photo and while still wet sprinkle glitter on everything. Once it is completely dry you can use a dry paint brush to remove the loose glitter.

I used one of the Winter Glitter Chipboard Snowflake, Silver Snowflake sticker from Ecstasy Crafts, Lakeside Dew Drop and snowflake die cut from White Snow Glitter Vellum. I adhered all together and then glued to the side of “tin”.

Also I punch two small holes in the center and threaded silver ribbon through the holes and tied off. This is what the front of my ornament looks like.

The backside of the ornament I cut from the Circle, Scallop #2 die using the Winter Glitter Snowflakes Cardstock, White Snow Glitter Vellum, White Snow Glitter Cardstock, Glitter Chipboard and sticker Snowflakes, Lakeside Dew Drop and a sequin which I adhered to the back. Simply adorable!!!
