Step-by-Step Guide to a Friendship-Themed Craft

Hi everyone! I am back after a break from the holidays and ready to share my first Eileen Hull project of 2025. This month’s theme is friendship. For this post I’ll be sharing how to create this floral frame using the Charms Thinlits. Along with several of Eileen’s dies and embossing folder. Anyways, let’s get started!

First, I picked out the brown cardstock from the Sizzix Making Essentials Cardstock for the frame. And I cut four frames from the Shadow Box Frames Set 02 Thinlits.

I folded and glued each frame.

I added adhesive inside the opening that has a tab. And placed it into the straight edge of the next frame. I did hold these while the glue set before adding glue to the next one. I cut and adhered a piece of cardstock to the back of the frame to give the frame stability.

I cut out fifteen of the teardrop heart charms from the Charms Thinlits.

I shaped each teardrop charm with a Stylus.

I glued the center of each teardrop charm on top of each other.

I cut a center from the Sunflower Diecut and embossing that with the Floral Damask Embossing Folder. I inked the center and petals with a Pink Chalk Ink.

I cut an assortment of flowers from the Bookmark, Pockets and Topper Thinlits. I shaped and inked each flower. I adhered on top of each other before gluing to the center of the teardrop flower.

I added two Foam Pop Dots to the back of the flower. I also added a Green Gem to the center of the flower. I placed the flower in the center of the frame. This would make a great gift for a special friend. It can also be displayed as a home decor piece.

Rouge Floral Sewing Box

Hi everyone! Earlier this month I shared sneak peeks of the latest “It’s all about the Stitching Classic Dies” re-release by Eileen Hull. If you missed that post that I shared you can find that HERE. But today I’m sharing the complete project using the Cantilever Sewing Box Diecut along with a few other dies by Eileen. So let’s get started!

First, I gathered all the scraps of Mat Board I had been saving because the hinges, feet, lids and boxes are small and this is a great way to use up scraps. Side note, there will be a lot of cuts for this project.

Next, I covered mat board for the feet, hinges and lids with Adhesive Sh e ets and placed patterned cardstock from the 6″x8″ Rouge Paper Collection onto the mat board. These are the cuts you will need to make for each of the following parts for the sewing box:

Two Hole Hinges: Eight Cuts

Triple Hole Hinges: Four Cuts

Feet: Two Cuts

Lids: Two Cuts

Boxes: Six Cuts

Second, I didn’t cover the mat board for the boxes since I planned on cutting cardstock from the 12″x12″ Rouge Paper Collection to fit the boxes, this was for the inside and outside of each box. I know that’s a lot of work but is so worth the extra effort for a clean and neat look.

I covered the outside of four of the boxes and two of the boxes I adhered together before covering.

Third, I punched out the holes on the outside before adding the hinges and Brads to each of the boxes. I then cut to fit cardstock for the inside of each box. I also glued the lids to the top boxes.

Fourth, I cut out two leaves, four centers and eight of the smaller flowers from the Envelope, Folder and Flowers Thinlits, three leaf sprigs from the Wreath and Snowflake Thinlits and two flowers from the Folio Page, Pockets and Flowers Thinlits.

I took all of the flowers that are from the Envelope, Folder and Flowers Thinlits and inked the edges with a red chalk ink before shaping each with a Stylus. I layered and glued four of those flowers on top of each other along with a shaped center and a leaf. I did the same for the other of flower, center and leaves but set those aside.

Next I shaped with a stylus the other two flowers from the Folio Page, Pockets and Flowers Thinlits, another center and the all the leaf sprigs. I adhered one layered flower, sprigs and the other two flowers to the corner of the lid. I did added a flat back pearl to the smallest flower and loops of thread to finish that side of the lid.

Fifth, for the other lid I fussy cut two flowers from one of the sheets of 12″x12″ Rouge Paper Collection, shaped with a stylus and glued on top of each other. I added a leaf and center to the flower before gluing to the lid. I also added more leaf sprigs, the other layered flower, a fussy cut ticket, pearl top pins, lace and loops of thread.

Sixth, I used two sewing bobbins as knobs to open the lids. I adhered to each lid and punched a small circle from cardstock and glue to each spool. I also glued the feet to the bottom of the sewing box.

This sewing box is perfect to store sewing supplies in but would be great to hold craft supplies, candy or add trinkets and give as a gift. What would you do if you created one? Let me know in the comments below.

Snow Village

Hi everyone! If you have been following me for any length of time you know I love to alter or up-cycle anything that you would be thrown in the trash. I used an empty cheese container as the base to create this home decor piece. I used the village thinlit from the Starlit Village and Card Panel Thinlits, Everyday Tags and Labels Thinlits (both only at Scrapbook.com), Crochet Mandala Embossing Folder and the Shadow Box frames Set 2 Thinlits all by Eileen Hull to pull together a fun little snow village. So let’s get started!

First, I painted a Laughing Cow cheese container with two coats of aqua paint and let dry.

Second, I applied Ivory Luster Wax around the exposed edges of the container.

Third, I cut two villages from the Starlit Village and Card Panel Thinlits and a frame from the Shadow Box frames Set 2 Thinlits. I cut the frame to the length of the village die, put together according to the direction, cut patterned cardstock to “fit” each end of the frame with excess to fold around the frame and glued.

Fourth, before gluing the village onto either side of the frame I had to cut a piece of light blue cardstock. I adhered the cardstock to the inside of the largest house to cover the windows and door. Here is where it gets a little tricky. I had to cut strips of patterned cardstock for each house to create “walls”. I adhered each piece into place.

Fifth, before adhering the house onto the container. I placed the container onto the container and drew a circle and cut out. I then embossed with the Crochet Mandala Embossing Folder and glued to the top of the container.

Sixth, I cut and folded four white pieces of cardstock each to fit each roof line of each houses. I adhered each into place and applied Glitter Glue onto each of the roofs to create the look of snow.

Seventh, I cut a label and two snowflakes from the Everyday Tags and Labels Thinlits. I cut the bottom off the label and glued to the front of the container. I adhered both the snowflakes together before adding to the label. I also added a sequin and dew drop to the center of the snowflake.

Eighth, I added gems to the house to create the look of strung lights.Side note…if you don’t have the Starlit Village and Card Panel Thinlits you can also use the Shadow Box Elements Thinlits and create your own village.

Eileen Hull’s Chapter 4 Sunflower Shadow Box Reveal

Hi everyone! Eileen Hull’s Chapter 4 release is finally here and I’m so excited!

The Geometric Box is a different kind of design for Eileen. I love the ease of assembly, the unique shape and and the possibility of expanding the box into larger containers! This is a ScoreBoards die so it may be cut from sturdy materials like matboard, chipboard, metal, leather and fabric. The finished box measures 4” h x 3” w x 4” d…or so…a fun feature of this die is that it adapts to how you shape it. There are so many possibilities with this die.

Use the Geometric Box for storage-for pencils, silverware, flowers, or tools. The box may also be used as a gift container-imagine adding teabags, a pretty silver spoon and a bow as a get well gift or as a home decor piece (wait until you see one of my upcoming projects)!

The Sunflower is a Bigz L steel rule die-designed to cut and score a myriad of materials. The Sunflower is BIG- it measures about 4″ across and comes with a leaf, three sizes of petals and a flower center! Stack layers of petals to make a traditional sunflower, or change colors and create a pink coneflower or use easy flower shape to create a unique floral arrangement. The basic shape is there for you to create your own flowers! Make a stem for the flower using wire and your Twist and Style Tool. The coordinating Geometric Box die works perfectly as a vase.

The whimsical patterns of vintage cutlery of the Silverware 3D Embossing Folder is gorgeous! The design is so detailed you can actually see a tiny bride and groom on the handle of a cake server.

This folder is perfect for creating seating charts, menus, invitations, cards and recipe books. You would be surprised at the many materials you can emboss- metal, paper, cardboard, Sizzix texture roll and more. Once you have embossed the image, rub a light coat of a metallic Luster Wax over the top of the design and you have an amazing result!

My first project from this release I used the Sunflower Diecut along with the Shadow Box Frames Set 2 Thinlits and the Skinny Mini Elements Thinlit from past releases. So let’s get started!

First off, I cut out four of the smaller frame sides from the Shadow Box Frames Set 2 Thinlits and put together according to directions. Side note…Eileen Hull has a few videos on YouTube and on her Facebook Lives where she shares how to put these together. I cut out the Skinny Mini Thinlit, inked the edges and then tore pieces off of the diecut image to give it a tattered look. I crumpled scraps of patterned cardstock before adhering, both the die and scraps and scraps of lace, to the inside of the shadow box.

I pulled yellow, dark yellow, green and brown cardstock from the Eclectic Surfacez Cardstock Collection and cut two sets each of the large and middle flowers and one center and leaf from the Sunflower Diecut. I inked the edges of each and shaped the flowers (including the center) and leaf with a Stylus. I glued all pieces together. I watered down black, gray and white acrylic painted, loaded a paint brush with each color and splattered paint onto the sunflower.

To raise the sunflower up off of the shadow box I added three layers of Adhesive Foam before placing onto the box.

I placed some glittered sprays, tree twigs and bows made from cording under the sunflower to finish off this home decor piece.

You are a Natural Beauty

Hi everyone! I’m back with a project I actually created several months ago for Eileen Hull’s Chapter One Release and never got around to sharing. This project I used the Book Box Diecut but used the hinge on the shorter side of the box instead of the longer side.

I placed Adhesive Sheets on both side of the Mat Board before adding cardstock (Lakeside Blooms Paper Pad (discontinued)) to either side and running through the Diecut Machine.

I put the box together according to the directions but as I stated above I cut the hinge down to fit the side of the box because I had a “mess up” that I had to cover up…ooops!

I cut out a frame from the Books and Pages, Trinket Box and Frame Diecut (retired). I placed Foam Pop Dots on the back before placing onto the box. I used embellishments from the Vintage Artistry Sage Collection, a couple of store bought flowers and flower diecuts from the Folio Page Pocket and Flowers Thinlits to decorate the lid of the box.

I adhered lace, thread and added gems to the center of the flowers to finish off the box.

Making a House a Home

Hi everyone! I’m back with the full reveal of my Eileen Hull project that I shared a sneak peek of at the beginning of the month. I used an empty ribbon spool as a jumping off point too create a little home decor piece.

The first thing I did was cut two circles in patterned cardstock from the Ornament Box Diecut and adhered to the top and bottom of the spool. I cut a strip of the same patterned cardstock and adhered around the center of the spool and added flatback pearls to the bottom lip of the inside circle. Next I cut out one wreath from the Wreath and Snowflake Thinlits and added adhesive in random spots to the back of the wreath. Side note… what I will be adding to the top will anchor down the wreath.

I cut out five of the largest trees from the Vintage Truck Box Diecut, cut the trunks off, folded all, adhere the backs of the trees together and lightly ink the edges of the tree.

I cut two houses from the Shadow Box Elements Thinlits, a small section/frame of the Shadow Box Frames Set 02 Thinlit ( measure and cut at the house die roof line), fold and glue together. I backed the inside of both houses before adhering to the front and back of the “frame”. I also folded, cut and glued a strip of cardstock to create a roof.

I adhered both the tree and house to the top of the spool and proceeded to add an assortment of flowers, vines and leaves dies from the following diecuts: Wreath and Snowflakes and Shadow Box Elements Thinlits to the top of the spool.

I also added loops of thread and hand inked cheese cloth along with sequins, gems and flatback pearls to the flowers, leaves and vines.

I cut out the home sentiment and backed with a coordinating patterned cardstock, added Foam Pop Dots to the spool and placed the sentiment onto the front of the spool to finish.

From a Dresser Drawer to Diecut Storage

Hi everyone! I’m back with a project that I had actually created this past Summer. You know life happened and kept on happening and now has finally (for the moment) settled down. A little back story, me and my Dad a couple of years ago took an old dresser that my husband had wanted to toss and I decided that we, meaning me and my Dad, would cut the dresser down after carefully removing the top of the dresser to reuse. We removed two of the drawers (it had a total of four drawers), add a shelf to create a big opening to store my husband’s not so nice looking lunchbox (I added a curtain to hid said lunchbox) when he wasn’t at work. I have a blog post from when we did this project several years ago if you want to have a look, you can find that blog post HERE, before diving into the diecut storage drawer. (Also that post was on my old blog).

I employed the help of my husband to pull off this project off. The first thing I did with the drawer was sand over the whole area to scuff up the finish.

I used a piece of 21/32″x16″x36″ Paint Grade Wood Panel to replace the bottom of the drawer.

The next thing we did was “punch” out the bottom of the drawer because once you put all those heavy diecuts in the bottom would fall out since it isn’t very thick.

We, meaning my husband, measured and cut the wood panel to fit the bottom of the drawer.

My husband screwed the wood panel to the bottom of the drawer.

Now it’s my time to get to work! I used a spray paint with primer to completely cover, inside and out, the drawer. Side note, next time when I make one of these I will use a brush and paint on the primer because I used a total of three and a half cans of spray paint.

I lightly sanded the knobs that came with the drawer and spray painted those. Another side note, to get an even finish while spray painting I punched holes with my Crop-A-Dile into a piece of corrugated cardboard and screwed the knobs into the cardboard. This keeps the knobs upright and makes it easy to spray paint.

Now I passed the drawer back to my husband so he could add wheels to the bottom of the drawer. My husband marked with a pencil the holes to attach the wheels and drilled tiny holes into wood.

He attached each wheel with washers and screws.

I added the knobs and placed most of my Eileen Hull Diecuts, I have way more that what can fit inside the drawer, and rolled up under the side board I have in my craft room. I hope this inspires everyone to create one for yourselves.
