Mermaids in the Blue Sea

Hi everyone! I’m back to share two fun projects I created. The first one is a empty toilet paper roll that I flattened and painted with Ceramcoat Turquoise acrylic paint. I used Tim Holtz Scallops diecut on one end of the toilet paper roll which I then glued together. I used two binder clips to keep the end from coming apart until it dried completely. Once dry I applied Mod Podge to the outside of the TP roll. I let that dry and then punched small holes on either side of the roll. I strung twine through holes and tied off each end.

I adhered a Spellbinder die to the front of the TP roll…I’m not sure which set this die came from??? I received this in a swap. Next I “layered” buttons and Dew Drops around the top of the roll. The Mimi the Mermaid stamp is from Penny Black. I stamped the image several times on different colors of cardstock and then I fussy cut and adhered together. Since I don’t own any Copic markers I dug out my chalk pastels and shaded the mermaid’s face, body and hair. I next used a combination of Crystal and Patina Stickles on the “fin”. I added Pearl Dew Drops as bubbles around the mermaid.

The card is a 6″x6″ piece of cardstock folded in half to make a 3″x6″ card. I created the mermaid just like the TP roll holder instructions above. I added various scraps of cardstock and I used the Sizzix Snowball Embossing folder and the Tag, Scallop w/Eyelets diecut. I also inked all edges with Martha Stewart’s Dusk Blue Chalk Ink. The sentiment is something I printed off the computer. The “bubble” that the word birthday is under is actually Epiphany Crafts Bubble Cap that I used with the SST-42 Scalloped Circle 25 punch…it’s very easy to use.

Instead of using Dew Drops on the card I used Stickles…this card is for an order and the customer wanted the cards as flat as possible…it’s been a challenge since I love using buttons, lace, dew drops and anything else that can “chunk up” a card. 🙂

Also this card and TP roll holder are for a challenge over at Parade Your Crafts.  Thanks for stopping by, hope your day is awesome and enjoying creating!!!
